> I could live with infection and grifball not being rewarding playlists, like action sack in H3 where you don’t get any XP even if you win.
How many credits you earned from infection/grifball didn’t matter in reach because the ranks didn’t make a difference in reach. In halo 4, with unlocks that affect gameplay, it will make a difference. By all means, reduce or remove the payout from playing these casual gametypes. Problem solved. (also like stated in other threads, they should not affect stats like k/d and w/l)
> also, these playlists take a huge part of the population of people who play Halo who could actually be playing some real playlists such as team slayer or objective to keep this game alive
The competitive playlists are no more real than infection or grifball. This is a trending point people make in this argument and it’s severely unintelligent. I’ll quote a comment I made in another thread so I don’t have to repeat the whole post:
"I know, it’s horrible. People playing playlists they like instead of settling for other playlists because what they prefer isn’t an option.
The fact that’s it’s as populated as it is, is the very reason it should remain a permanent playlist. Competitive gametypes like team slayer might be the more traditional halo, but if there’s thousands of people enjoying infection then let them play what they enjoy.
This is the same lame argument people use against a custom game browser. “If there’s a custom game browser it will kill the matchmaking population.” Really? People being able to play what they like is a problem?
People are just worried that their competitive playlists will drop in population and it will become harder to find decent games, so their solution is to deny alternative options that people might enjoy more so they’re forced to settle for something less appealing.
Why not make forging an option only available on certain weekends too? That way the matchmaking playlists will be far more populated. I’m sure forge is taking away a lot of players from the matchmaking pool. And theater. People are wasting too much time watching replays when they could be better spending their time filling your game of Team Slayer."
> something like this is more fun to play in xp weekends because the less you play it the more fun it is when you do
In your opinion. Yet for thousands of others that may not be the case, and you want to take away one of the few unique alternative gametypes available away from them because it means more to you that way.
> and to counter your argument, I’d say that there still is action sack as a casual playlist, and in Reach there’s only 1 competitive playlist(2 if you count Arena), and you can play better infection maps in custom games anyway.
Power Slayer? Dino Blasters? Action sack typically has weird variants of the usual gametypes, at least in reach. Yes there are a couple unique games like Halo ball and Hockey, but as far as I can tell the odds of those coming up are very low. Action sack is not enough. Infection is unique and popular enough for it’s own playlist. And any gametype can play better in custom games. It’s not easy for everyone to get large groups together for custom games though. But you know that. This was a lame counter to my argument.
> and then there’s still spartan ops.
Spartan Ops will not have the same replayability as multiplayer gametypes like infection.
