Double Team and AR starts

My brother and I just played our first game of doubles ever yesterday. It was AR starts on Asylum. All I have to say is I will never play Doubles again unless it’s DMR starts.

I got a kill with the sniper and then it was basically over. Both guys on their team just used the DMR/NR off of our spawns and we couldn’t do anything. If I had a DMR I could at least defend myself. We ended up quitting at 10-1. The DMR/NR is basically a power weapon in AR starts, and the pistol is basically useless against a competent person with a DMR. It’s terrible.

I never played Arena Doubles, but I heard it was DMR starts, so I probably would’ve enjoyed it. Why isn’t it always DMR starts? The way it is, if you gain control even with just the DMR you have a crazy advantage.

I personally hate it when you start shooting first and then he starts shooting you while you both run at each other and melee, which kills you both. How is that fun? Exactly. I’m good with the DMR and it’s not really hard to be, so it’s basically a power weapon in AR starts. In 2v2 you need some way to make it even. I bet most of the time with AR starts the game ends up 25-10 for one team or another. It just seems like a terrible way to play.

Same thing happened to me on Zealot the other day. We unfortunately began the game 0-2 when the rushed to our left and nade spammed us. Still we got outplayed there, but from then on they controlled the DMR and NR the rest of the game. It was an AR/Pistol start as well. The Pistol is too weak to take on people who team DMR/NR you in this game.

I think what comes down to it is that both Asylum and Zealot need one more set of two DMRs placed on the map. I’m pretty sure Sanctuary of Halo 2 had 4 total BRs on the map, but I could be wrong.

If that suggestion isn’t good then the spawn times of the DMR should be reduced and we should see the gun spawn faster.

Another set of DMRs/NRs would be a great addition.

I don’t mean to sound rude or crass, but that is the way those weapons are supposed to work in default matches. They are power weapons. If you do not keep tabs on them like you would other power weapons, they may come back to bite you. If you are really having an issue with AR/Mag gametypes, try voting for DMR variants.

they should just make all of the serious playlists DMR start.

or do something like give people levels 1-50 (updated and invisible), and have every game where the average person is a 25 have DMR starts for everyone in that game.

this way the people complaining, the people flailing around and failing with the oh so hard DMR wouldnt complain because they’d just spawn with the AR all day.

Yeah we voted for “none of the above” and the other 2 voted for the AR starts on Asylum, so since that option was above ours, it was selected. You make a good point. I hadn’t played Doubles before and I assumed that there would be enough DMRs to go around. Sadly, I was mistaken.

Once we were down 2-1 and I had used the 4 bullets in the Sniper, I quickly looked for either a DMR or NR. I guess they had already picked them up, b/c there were only ARs where they should have been and I was already being rained upon. Lesson learned I guess.

You are definitely not alone in learning that lesson. Personally, I have ended up in your same position multiple times. : ) The majority of the time, it is by my own choice though. I find it very rewarding to beat a DMR/NR user with the Magnum or other weapons. I guess some would call me a masochist, but hey, it’s my preference. I love using all the weapons in the sandbox!
