Double Standards

How come so many within the Halo community have double standards? I’ve seen countless threads, discussions, arguments and even been in some where people say something like “You shouldn’t judge before it releases” then procceds to say “OMG is going to be soooo amazing!!!”.

I was in that kind of argument recently between two “tru Halo fans” which bashed me for dislikeing the Halo 5 Beta and have a certain opinion about it . They were just rude, immature and tried to convert my opinion to theirs about Halo 5 being the “ressurector of Halo” then say at the end of it all with “You can’t say that Halo 5 will blah blah because you can’t judge something that hasn’t been released”.

Why are so many here in this community just…stupid? (including myself at times)

Shut up h5 r da best halo. Get out reported

Both “sides” are guilty of setting double standards at times. I like Halo 5 so I’m going to get it, and I expect people to respect my decision. Likewise, I will respect anyone else’s decision not to get it if they don’t like it.

It’s when people venture into that danger zone of using MCC as an example of why people are irresponsible for getting Halo 5 that I start to take offense. It’s perfectly fine to not want to buy Halo 5 because you don’t trust 343 or don’t like their new direction, but do not for one second try to tell me that I’m a fool for wanting to buy it because you don’t approve.

Positivity > Negativity

I suppose?

Yes and no. There are plenty of people that respect other opinions and have constructive discussions. At the same time people can trash that opinion and upset that person, and in turn they trash other people.

But like The Doctor said, people will bring up 343s history to determine whether or not the game will be good. 343 right now is 1 for 1. One game made that worked at launch and a business success, but didnt meet standards set by the community, and 1 broken game that had even higher standards. Its 50-50 but I enjoyed the beta, so in turn they will get my money, simple as that.

Positivity = Negativity < Realism (Empiricism?)

(Positivity = Negativity) < Realism

Positivity = (Negativity < Realism)

I think he meant (Positivity = Negativity) < Realism

That’s just how people are when you criticize something they like and are expecting to enjoy. I tend not to say it’s going to be amazing but, more that I can’t wait for it to release so I can play it. Unless there’s a Beta and I can speak from experience or have seen gameplay. If a game has no gameplay videos out or anything showing how the game is I hold off on any assumptions. Except in the case of Monster Hunter and Dark Souls =)

There is always going to be a difference of opinion with someone, in many aspects of life, what matters is how you respect the other person’s opinion. That’s where the problem comes in, many of these adolescents have a “my way or the highway” mentality. I honestly wouldn’t think anything of it and just try to find those people you could have meaningful discussion with, ignore the rest.
