Welcome to MODERN GAMING era!!!

Well… It is a free game, they must maintain the servers, in addition, it is already confirmed that there are items that can only be obtained within the campaign, so I would not worry so much about it.
It is also confirmed that they will improve the way in which the battle pass is progressed, in addition to the fact that this is not a complete game, the beta ends on December 8, so we must press to do things well with our feedback.

Well said and spot on.

I initially pre ordered halo infinite to get the steel book case and help support the game developers despite having gamepass. I have now canceled my pre order and will not be playing multiplayer until they fix this ridiculously predatory monetization and ranking system.

Yeah, but original Xbox games depreciated. You could walk into a store 6 months after Halo came out and a brand new copy would cost 30 dollars, not 60. A year later you could pick it up for 10. If you want to buy RDR2 right now brand new it’ll still cost you 60 dollars 3 years after release.

Plus gaming is a much more mainstream industry now vs back then. 60 dollars might be worth less and more technical effort might go into them but games make far, far more money then they did back then. Cyberpunk shipped over 8 million copies in pre-orders alone.

It’s the “freedom to play the way you want” lines that gets to me the most. Wasn’t shown in those clips but I’ve seen it in other cuts. The challenge only progression system combined with lack of being able to select specific modes/playlists is literally the opposite of play how you want. Not close but needs some refining, literally the opposite.

That was a flat out lie. It couldn’t be more restrictive of how we play and that bothers me more than any of the predatory monetization if I’m being honest.

but a lot of people don’t seem to understand that revenue is required for gaming to exist.

Literally nobody doesn’t understand that. You’re talking about companies that make hundreds of millions, sometimes close to a billion dollars in pre-orders alone before the game is even out. Popular “live service” games make sometimes into the billions more just in microtransactions a year - and the effort that goes into their post launch content doesn’t remotely reflect that. That goes triple for Halo Infinite which is literally, what, 5 or 6 modes? 7 Maps? Content wise this game is -Yoink!- devoid.

The idea that -Yoink!- over the consumers is a “necessary offset” and not pure greed is laughable. Stop acting like companies are going to go broke if they don’t bend you over and violate you, it’s -Yoink!- pathetic.

Explain what this Australian official is speaking about then. Because it sounds a lot like the double speak way of explaining a covid camp The world is bad right now but you have to admit your government is about one of the worst offenders at eroding civil liberty. Which is sad because I honestly like you Aussies your government is just -Yoink!- ours is right behind you

Go spin your -Yoink!- somewhere else.

Hey man I can’t force you to unplug from the matrix.

I wouldn’t waste your time dude has been spending way too much time being a S I M P on the forum. Basically demanding me to explain how to fix it another way or shut up. I’m almost convinced he’s been paid

I guess the White Knights don’t like us pointing out how blatantly anti-consumer the current system is.

Lol it’s so interesting someone else feels this way, I mean you went way off course haha, but yeah I figured that one about 3 years ago. I’d say it’s very likely why he was assassinated, can’t mess with the banks and the federal reserve. The world we live in man…

Damn. I got my Halo Console from EB Games NZ. Was hoping that it would at least come with a special coating.
I got the Halo 4 360, and that bad boy came with FOTUS!

Considering how drastically off-topic some people have gotten, I’m surprised this wasn’t perma-locked.

Seriously, get back on topic, people. Australian politics has NOTHING to do with this thread. It’s almost like you’re deliberately trying to get this thread locked…

The sad thing is that an increase in profit for microsoft from more people buying the game won’t actually correlate to the game getting better. In fact, the more people that play and spend money on mtx the more secure 343 will feel in this business model, and the more they will be focusing on new coatings and emblems rather than real content. People forget that while 343 is probably full of people passionate about Halo, the people in control of it only care about money. If they decide that they could make a few more dollars by not releasing campaigns and just making fortnite style skins they will absolutely do that without second thought.

If anything, the more money people pump into the game, the more money they will be asked for next month, next year. With the store in Infinite they tested the waters, setting prices far above the industry standard and seeing what people would buy. If half the players are furious and complaining, but 10% of the players buy a $20 armor pack and a battlepass, they’ll prioritize those 10% forever. Then next big event they’ll try the armor packs for $30, and so on.

The only way to change the system is by not purchasing cosmetics etc. If they fix the progression system, add a ranking system, and offer more reasonable color options then I’ll absolutely buy the $10 battle pass, but I have no faith in them, you’re probably right that forge will be incredibly well made but will either cost money as a mode on its own, or include purchasable items etc (despite being part of their attempt to justify a $60 standalone campaign.)

I’ll be really curious to see how season 2 goes. I know they are citing the teams health for the season 2 delay, but I bet they’re also in a pickle trying to decide what to sell, now that they are running out of Bungie designs from Halo Reach to piggyback on.
