Double speak, dishonest business practices, and fake apologies

nobody asked for free multiplayer. and its obviously just a way to swindle us out of money. those who pay for the campaign should receive the premium battle pass PERIOD. I will not pay another 10 bucks to unlock customization in a game I already own.

watch this video and tell me they were not misleading.

youtube (dot com) /watch?v=h4ATKxz9PFc

“we are coming at this from a player first mentality”…uses one of the most predatory freemium monetization scams as its leveling system

“a lot of our stuff is earned through playing the game and only playing the game”…locks about 80% of all rewards behind a pay wall, gives no xp for kills, headshots, flag captures or match wins.

I know this is a first world issue but the whole game industry should be taken to court for dishonest business practices, its obvious to me you are all spending less time making a good, balanced product to compete in the market and more time calculating how to milk the most amount of money out of your consumers for the least amount of work. Mark my words, there will be another video game crash and it will be because of this horrible trend you greedy developers are in. I say that knowing full well a lot of these intentionally evil decisions are made by the suits in the company while the creative people slave away to make something as best they can.

look at what has happened with so many others, most notable and recent being Bethesda, cd project red, and even Rockstar now, its a trend

first double speak, then the dishonest business practices, and finally fake apologies and maybe, finally a fix

its like a drug dealer who shorts you and then insults your intelligence by pretending it was an accident. “sorry fam, my scale must be broke, Ill hook you up next time”…then its off again the next time XD

Yea the “cosmetics being only unlocked through playing the game” thing was a very bad look on 343. Literally all of the cosmetics can be purchased. And most are ONLY unlocked through in game purchases.

On day 1, everyone who didn’t pay at least $10 had no customization options except what color their armor was.

I dont think theyre gonna skimp on you for buying the main game, however. I genuinely believe that they’ll do SOMETHING for the people that pay for the campaign. Hopefully involving some armor unlocks that can ONLY be gotten from the campaign. Honestly, i dont want their campaign to come with a battle pass. Its becoming a tired concept. I’d rather just have challenging challnges that are specific to the campaign and result in unique armors.

Also dont forget EA. I pray to God that their company burns tbh.

I get what you’re saying, they have said they will make changes. I am just sick of this kind of stuff. I’m not sure why I am surprised to see them go this route, it’s disappointing. The only thing I would have to add is if for whatever reason there is a demand to sell campaign and multiplayer separately we should not be paying full price for the campaign. I wouldn’t have an issue buying the campaign at $50 and multiplayer at $10 but honestly the whole thing just looks and sounds like they are reinventing the wheel and making it as confusing as possible to try and trick us into feeling like we aren’t being ripped off and it’s anything but intentional. But no, it has been calculated and they basically wait for someone to call them out before making any changes just to see what they can get away with

Wow what a brilliant post, I couldn’t agree more honestly, you’re amazing :).

Games have been at $60 forever while the quality goes up, if the issue is simply inflation that makes sense to me just come out and say the game costs $70. Just do us a favor and release finished games, quit it with the scam artist tactics and be honest, the community will recognize and respect that. I’m tired of feeling like a sucker instead of a valued customer.

I’d rather pay extra for a game with more content in it than this garbage.

Likewise, I get that inflation is a thing and that $60 for a game just isn’t worth it to a gaming company. If I could shell out $120 for the full game with everything unlockable I would. I knew free to play had its issues, but I didn’t really understand how horrible it is for halo till now. Not to mention the cheaters literally ruining the game as mostly a consequence of it being free to play too. And it sucks, because instead of looking at someone’s armor and being like “wow that looks so cool, wonder how he unlocked it?” I’m now like “wellp someone sold out and bought that armor/color.”

I mean, if they simply offered more opportunities for people to earn customization options outside of the battle pass and store and made prices more affordable they’d still make sweet, sweet bank.

All I want is my EVA helmet I’ve rocked since 3. But it’s locked behind the battle pass paywall.

Here in Australia, Infinite is between $80 and $100, depending on what deal you can get and stock availability.

Did you adjust that value for currency transition? $1 in Australia is $0.71 USD, when applying the calculation of $80*.71=56.80 United States dollars.

What quality?
Day one patches common, Barebones releases plenty, server issues many, psychological manipulation overused.

You get armor coatings for the campaign and that’s it. People have already data mined all campaign rewards.

Marketing budget has gone up, and on larger games is often the biggest expense. They gotta get paid for their marketing somehow…

I think that rumour has been debunked, hold fire on that assumption. No idea until release though.

Debunked how? If you’ve got data I don’t I’d love to see.

Gaming journalists, I know not a great source but you should look into it for sure.

You’re not wrong I’m just saying it’s been $60 since the original Xbox and the overall quality and amount of work/resources have increased with the evolving industry while the currency becomes less and less valuable. $60 back then was worth more and bought us Red Dead Revolver $60 now is worth less and bought us RDRII

Spot on!!! Took the words right out of my mouth
