Double Jump is the Solution to...

Double Jump is the solution to Sprint+Double Beatdown.

When someone is sprinting at you, you can’t sprint backwards and a normal jump won’t give you enough height to be out of range of the melee. A double jump would allow you to get some height over your enemy’s head.

You may ask “Why wouldn’t your enemy just double jump and beat you down in the air?”

Well the solution is this: The meter that drains when you sprint would also get drained from double jumps. So if an enemy used up his meter sprinting at you, he would not be able to double jump after that.

The way I see it, three double jumps would drain the meter completely. So if your enemy uses more than two thirds of his sprint meter running at you, he will not be able to double jump.

Does this seem fair and balanced? Please no canon talk.

No double jump! It’s ridiculous and unnecessary.

Why not increase jump height so it is more similar to Halo 3, double jumping would be ridiculous.

> Why not increase jump height so it is more similar to Halo 3, double jumping would be ridiculous.

So to have high, floaty jumps all the time is alright but to have to tap A again to double jump makes it ridiculous? Explain. It would actually take some thought as to when you wanted to double jump because it is tied to a meter, not like Halo 3 where everyone was just bouncing around the whole time.

sorry i completely ignored the fact that you could distort the gravity around you, allowing you to jump a second time in midair. your right…

Did I say no canon talk please? I’ll entertain you for a second though. How do air planes work smart guy? There are devices that can create thrust. What’s to say these devices are not being used to create that mid air thrust?

Its just not needed the jump height can already be increased so there is no point in it.

Sorry, ive never understood how any game could have a double jump. YOU CANT JUMP IN MID AIR.
just make a higher jump like halo 3.

> Its just not needed the jump height can already be increased so there is no point in it.

You are right. Let’s just raise the jump height so you can just tap A over and over and over again without thinking. I thought people wanted a larger skill gap.

How does a plane take off? It uses devices that create thrust. This would be the same thing. It’s not a difficult concept to grasp.

Why would anyone jump over and over again instead of strafe is beyond me. It worked fine in other halos, why not reach?

> sorry i completely ignored the fact that you could distort the gravity around you, allowing you to jump a second time in midair. your right…

You’re right, because Halo is already way too realistic. /sarcasm

> Why would anyone jump over and over again instead of strafe is beyond me. It worked fine in other halos, why not reach?

Because people think that jumping makes it harder to get shot in the head. And while a well-timed jump can actually do that, people “bunny hopping” all the time are just dead meat. Predictable trajectory = guaranteed hit.

Did you just say that people jumping are both harder to hit and easier to hit? Which is it?

Higher jump height does increase skill gap. Its nearly impossible to ninja people in reach, because of jump height.

I am willing to argue that it isn’t simply needed.

If your talking about countering a sprinter who double pummels how about shoot him before he does.

Secondly, this is not Mario we are not jumping on Goombas we use guns.

Lastly why add in something that already can be fixed in game. There is just no point.

Knowing when to jump is a skill. When you have an unlimited amount of high jumps (Halo 3) it doesn’t take skill to know when to use it. If you has a limited amount of high jumps then you would have to make decisions. Making correct decisions in battle is a skill.

Just make the jump heights similar to what we had in Halo 3. It’s sort of ridiculous how they are now. Besides, jumping away from a button masher with the heigher jump heights would help negate their lame play.

Double jumping wouldn’t be the greatest idea for several reasons.

Not to mention 343i would have to design maps that cater to double jumping, not necessarily an easy task. HLG’ers would go crazy.

Take outt AAs in general, increase speed/jump height back to what it was in Halo 3.
