Double EXP Weekends---Bring them back

It has been posted numerous times here and I still don’t think it is enough. Who remembers coming home from school or work on Friday afternoon to play Double EXP weekend? Double EXP weekend with Infection, Fiesta, or Grifball was amazing and made the gametypes fun to play in MM. In Reach it’s too stale since it’s always there to play.

The following is just idea that can be include:

-Grifball
-Living Dead(Not just default gametypes and maps but include games like fatkid, skycastle, Jenga, Halo on Halo, etc)
-Team Fiesta(Slayer and Objective)
-FFA Fiesta(Slayer and Objetcive)
-Action Sack(Maybe)
-Flagstravaganza(CTF, Flag Slayer, Stockpile[If in Halo 4], 3 flag)
-Brawl(Implying there’s a Trueskill ranking system)

I’d imagine I am missing some so feel fee to post those below.

I think double exp will bring people back to play a lot more instead of having these playlists there 24/7. It will make them feel special to play.

Double exp will affect all the cR’s you earn in that playlist. Game completion, performance bonus, commendations(if in), challenges(if in), slot machine. It might not be good since that is quite a lot of cR so it should probably be limited on the categories it affects.

Yes. Please. The only thing better than double exp weekends was Bungie faves.

I’ve consistently disliked Infection, Grifball, and Action Sack in Reach since they’ve had their own playlists the whole time. I loved Double EXP weekends in Halo 3 and looking forward to a zombie weekend.

Well, I think that Infection, Grifball and Action Sack should be standalone playlists, but Double EXP weekends would be great!

YES.

I prefer the default Infection playlist, but Double XP Weekends as a whole sound awesome.

Don’t they already have a Super Jackpot weekend for Reach? Then how is this “bringing it back?” Wouldn’t just be a continuation? You make it sound like weekend bonuses somehow left Halo.

Some people end up not even getting the bonuses. Double EXP>Jackpot weekends

That doesn’t make them as a special as they were in Halo 3

They’re boring in Reach - why? Overuse.

In Halo 3, I’d jump at the chance to play grifball / infection - because it was like a birthday or Christmas - it wasn’t all the time.

Even if 343 decides to keep these as standalone playlists (which they may, Irdc), they should have double exp weekends for certain playlists - or double cR weekends.

Double cR > Jackpots.

Double EXP weekends and 343i Favourites.

Yeah definetly bring back Double Xp Weekend

Those double XP weekends were awesome. I hope there’s something similar in Halo 4 for definite.

infection is the most popular playlist in reach. why make it so thousands of people cant play there favorite playlist unless its a weekend? seems to me like that would lower the population.

Did you play Halo 3?

Weekend playlist on Halo 3 had more people playing it than what the 24/7 playlist on Reach has/had. Why? There was a bigger reward and it wasn’t overused.

This, this, and this. No matter how much I disagree with certain design decisions (obviously subject to change right now) if they make an effort to keep matchmaking fresh then Halo 4 will be an extremely good game.

The biggest problem with Reach, in my opinion, is that no one wanted it. Bungie gave birth to it, but couldn’t wait to leave it at the orphanage; 343i came in and tried to love it and be a good parent, but it just wasn’t the same as their own child. Therefore, everything got stale.

Double exp weekends with fresh, new, and fun game types will keep many players coming back for more because sometimes slayer and CTF get a little old.

what you forget is that when halo 3 came out, all it had to compete with was cod4, so it had more players in general. reach has to compete with mw3, black ops, halo 3 and bf3. as the ammount of multiplayer games increase, all the games will have less players.

It sure didn’t lower the population in Halo 3. Halo 3 had a better population than Reach has now at its “height.” Also, that’s why we have custom games. I feel that in some way, making these gametypes (except Action Sack) have caused the downfall of custom games. Well, that and Forge World.

CoD 4 wasn’t its only competition. Stop pulling that card. It also had to compete against MW2, CoD WaW, GoW 1 and 2, and Battlefield Bad Company, and some other, more minor games. It was more than just CoD 4.

That still doesn’t defeat the fact that it gets stale and not worth playing so much.

MW3 has infection. When it became it’s own playlist it almost surpassed Team Deathmatch and SnD, the 2 most popular playlists on MW3. It was fun for awhile. Few months later it’s only at about 10,000 people. Why? It gets stale.

Stuff like that in any game needs to be a special limited time playlist.
