Don't you hate it when...

You sign up to play a match and the countdown begins on, lets say slayer. Every thing is going swell when all of a sudden you notice your opponents score is rising way to fast. Only to notice there is some -Yoink!- not playing the game. There should be a way for the game to automatically drop these jack-wagons from the match. After all each match counts toward your stats, and while these -Yoink!-’s may not care I certainly do. What say you fellow Spartans???

AFKers are a legacy issue from all the Halo games. I hate to say this, but it is probably only going to get worse with Halo 4 and it’s xp based progression system. Fortunately, enough afking/idling, I believe, ends up getting the player in question a xp ban.

Tbh, I think there should be a couple lines of code added that detect if a player has not moved for about 2-3 minutes then auto-boot them from the game. Now, if that happened and JIP consistantly added people into matches before they were blow outs then things would probably be good on this.

Haven’t really had the problem in Halo 4 to be honest.

Bro; i just hate when you see them move in the beginning,… just find a little niche for them to hide/ for the remainder of the game.

Like in SPARTA OPs… obvsly.

There should have been something included in the code that boots people after at least a minute of inactivity and those only doing one thing (for people rubber banding controllers to make the character spin and such). Especially with join-in-progress, the boot system should be a lot stricter.

Agreed. I see it quite a bit in Spartan Ops.

Honestly booting AFK/rubber banding players after a set time (120 seconds or so) is a much more effective solution than just banning after the fact.

Idk, I think 300 seconds (5min) is too long. Just think, if you’re playing a team slayer game the game can end anywhere from 5-8 minutes. You’d still have that player in the game for most of the time limit.

Also as a note for Spartan Ops, the true AFKers don’t get xp. It’s already happened to me, start a search and have something come up and just walk out of the room without stopping the search. If you come back after the games over you only get a couple hundred xp. A player needs to get at least 5-10 kills and/or move around from time to time.

What amuses me though, is on occasion when you have to step away for a minute, maybe two, you come back to the other players staring you in the face and either shooting or punching you. If they really wanted to get the mission done, they would actually play it. And if they didn’t want to feed an AFKer there’s a quit option right there.

The way I see it, If someone’s not playing in Spartan Ops, more kills/commendations for me. When I ever step out of a Spartan Ops game for a couple minutes I usually come back and take the most kills anyway, which makes me laugh.

An AFK timer should seriously be implemented into War Games though.

Let them stay easy assassion kills lol

You should be happy that AFK’ers exist, they help you become a better player and you have the knowledge that you helped them on their path to SR-130.

yeah, why isnt there a afk boot system already in place? AFKers and the game starting 3v4 games is really what ruins multiplayer
