I don’t think that eight missions are that bad since we have spartan ops that is a extra campaign(s) and those missions will be as important as the Chiefs story… What are your guys thoughts?
Well that and the missions could basically be comprised of multiple missions at once kind of like The Covenant in Halo 3 or The Package in Halo Reach.
wow saw “is bad” in there and was like…nice job dork lol…need to fix that
Well, Reach only had eight and Halo 3 only had nine. That’s if you don’t count cutscenes and tiny little gameplays.
I think it’s well enough. Remember; Quality is greater than quantity.
Although I did think that 8 missions seemed a bit strange to have compared to 10 missions no one knows the sheer scale, length and difficulty or creativity of each. It seems like, with the hype of the trailers, the mission will be lengthy and engaging in various ways but for now there can only be speculation.
But I have faith in 343i that these missions will be amazing. I’m not saying that I know they will be I just have faith that they will.
Probably each mission would be 5 hours long. This is my wish. Oh nevermind, I can stay in one spot for an hour then move on.
Entirely depends on the length and quality of the campaign. If the missions are the same length that we have come to expect, then it’s unfortunately short. But I’m hopeful that it represents a different bar for what constitutes a mission. 'Cause Halo 4’s campaign is likely more in common with Halo 2 and 3 than Reach and CE; in the latter two, there’s an HQ and coordinated defensive that the protagonist returns to and gets new orders from, and that separates the missions. In Halo 2 and 3, it’s quite common for a mission to change over arbitrarily. You’ll cross a road and come to a bridge, or you’ll listen to a recording, or you’ll enter a room.
So I dunno. We’ll see. And of course, you’re right to point out that Spartan Ops could fill the void if it is a bit too short… which, again, is crazy. A whole campaign on top of the campaign after the release.
Eight missons are fine. I’m positive each misson will be better then the last, each one, keeping me at the edge of my seat, cutting down every Elite, Grunt, and anything else unlucky enough to cross paths the Chief, waiting to find out what will happen next. That along with Spartan Ops is going to keep me interested more and more, whether I go solo or with friends.
Plus, look at the positives. Less missons = less raging due to Legendary
That’s my opinion, anyway.
I predict that they will be very long missions with lots of open space for exploration. Plus there are both skulls and terminals, which will give us much more replay value.
As long as the gameplay is fluid then it doesnt matter to me how long the game is.

It depends on many things: how long are the missions, how difficult are they, etc. The problem here though is that even if the missions are 1 hr+ then the entire game will still only be 8 hrs long. I ran through Reach’s campaign in 5 hrs on normal the first time I played it so I guess this is still an improvement, but I just kinda wished FPS games would go back to those 10-15 hr experiences instead of relying more and more on the replay value of multiplayer or co-op modes. However, our increasing gaming skills we’ve developed over the years could easily be the reason why games seem so short these days b/c we just go through them faster and w/ less difficulty while first-timers will be taking those extra few hrs to complete the campaign and get that same experience we had back in the day.

Lol that can be true. Who know how many hours I put in Halo 2 Legendary. Those annoying overshielded elites and sniping Jackles really take the toll!
I think the usual 10+ missions would be aesthetically better. I like looking at the different varying sceneries following the general concept of every missions settings.
I don’t really care how many missions their are, so long as they tell a great story and give us a 10-15 hour campaign (on normal).
If it’s better than any of the previous campaigns, I will be satisfied enough, but 8 missions definitely has me worried.
After reading BS Angel’s response about missions being segmented and in different environments during the same mission I’m more than happy.
She also confirmed the length is similar to previous Halo’s, then we have Spartan Ops and multiplayer too. So plenty of content if you ask me.
I don’t mind as long as the missions aren’t short.
i just hope we get a good, solid, and sufficient story.
I don’t see how Halo 4 could be as short as Reach whenever Halo 4 actually has a STORY. If all they needed was eight missions to get the story out, so be it… but I pray they fulfill the gaming needs.
I hope it is enough because, with the extremely low population of Reach’s co-op campaign, people who never like to play above normal difficulty, and the fact that it is not designed to be played solo, I am not counting on Spartan Ops being a consistently reliable experience.
So maybe with the H4 campaign it will be typical to have 4-5 rally points per mission instead of the usual 2-3?
