Don't think aim assist is problem for bad accuracy

I’ve seen a lot of posts about people having difficulty aiming, I have too. Lots of us have put this down to the aim assist as something definitely feels different to previous games, but I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong. It’s taken me a decent amount of time fiddling with different settings and some useful posts here, but I’ve found some that feel very nice for me and my aim is now significantly better, to the point I don’t think I need any adjustments. I just hope the default settings aren’t off putting to too many players.

The main one was FOV, I usually don’t like using this in games, but that was the biggest thing. Once I turned this to max, it reduced the Sidekick reticle really small and made aiming with it much more consistent. Feels like this game was designed to be played on max FOV.

Other settings I have used are as follows:

Center Deadzone - 3
Max Input Threshold - 0
Axial Deadzone - 0
Look Acceleration - 2
Look Sensitivity (Horizontal) - 2.5
Look Sensitivity (Vertical) - 3.5

You may want to adjust these, I recommend you tinker until it feels best for you, particularly sensitivity and acceleration.

I’m really able to appreciate how nicely designed the weapon sandbox is now, absolutely loving it.

Your settings have nothing to do with the mechanics that auto aim works.

I know, I’m saying that I thought my issue with aiming was down to a lack of aim assist but with these settings my accuracy is poop hot.

The aim currently stinks. I’ve “tinkered” with sensitivity and dead zones—to no avail. I had virtually no aim assist playing with a controller on PC.

I’ve played with the settings, and managed pretty well, but I still think some aim mechanics, whether they be assist, magnetism, or something, could use a slight upwards nudge. This game has got to be accessible for the wide audience they’re going for. I would t want it on the level of previous games, but a tick up from where we’re at now so that some of the weapons don’t feel so erratic.

I feel you, I’m worried with my current settings that bumping it up may be a bit OP as I’m comfortably hitting a lot of my shots under pressure.

But does beg the question as to how you balance this for newer players. Maybe if they had profiles they could try that have different aim settings other than just Default to see which one feels the best. Saves them having to tinker with settings and should make the game feel better for them.

I’m not in disagreement with the settings. Mine are close to what ou posted but a tad higher. I still think the overall aiming is awkward. The bigger issue at hand is that the developer can’t design a system that is sound. I have never had the aim issue with a shooter until playing halo 5 and infinite. This game has been the only game where I’ve spent 30+ minutes if not longer toying with settings.

The FOV thing, I agree as well, making it closer to max distance smoothens things out. The one problem I want to raise now while doing that is that now, its harder to see various details, reticules are much smaller, and I find it harder to see the persons head from the distance. I’m playing on a 32 or so inch samsung monitor. Now if they were able to smoothen things out, with the game at the default FOV things would be a lot better. Why they couldn’t have just mimic’d destiny’s look/aim system, and apexs is beyond me.
