Don't tell other people how to feel about the game

I’ve seen people that aren’t excited for Halo: Infinite say to people that are, “You shouldn’t be excited for Halo Infinite”. And I’ve also seen people that are excited for it tell people that aren’t, “You should be excited for Halo: Infinite”. I really don’t like this. You shouldn’t tell someone how they should or shouldn’t feel, at least without a valid argument. If someone comes with a legitimate reason(s) to be excited or to not be excited for the game sure, but just plainly telling someone, “YOU SHOULD/SHOULDN’T BE EXCITED FOR HALO INFINITE” is obnoxious. For example…I’m excited for Halo Infinite, but I’m not going to tell people that aren’t excited for it that they should be.

There are plenty of reasons to be excited for infinite as well as plenty of reason to be skeptical of infinite so let people have their own opinions. I for one am excited for infinite because it shows that 343 is finally listening but I’ll know how I feel for sure when there is an official trailer with gameplay.

Don’t worry about what other people tell you. You do you. I’m personally excited, but I absolutely understand why some people are skeptical

You can be excited by the lore and hints of the classic artstyle and gameplay or you can be skeptical because of Halo 4, MCC and Halo 5. I would personally be excited as I found Halo 4 and 5 very fun and MCC seems to be just as fun. Don’t let anyone influence your opinions, especially critics.

I think at the end of the day players will make there own decision… I myself am excited… But excited to see what 343 does now… The part that is a downer is 343s track record… Many things seem to arise at the worst time for them and the game… And honestly 343 has had some really bad luck imo… But players all have various things they like and don’t like… As far as being excited… Well lets just see what really comes of this… For now I am excited and curious! I can see why others might tell others not to be excited and of course the other way around. Either way its water off a ducks back… shake it off and think for yourself!

How can you say they are listening based on just a tech demo?

How you feel about it should be the business of the individual, no one should be trying to sell it or play it down. I personally believe if you are a fan of Halo, from day one and continue to enjoy it, despite the changes, your a fan and the next Halo instalment coming out should have you excited.

Well, they brought back the classic art-style, the classic Forerunner art-style (or maybe a mix between classic and modern), and Chief’s I C O N I C armor. That’s a start.

Well for starters it shows that they listened with the new artstyle direction which is inspired by the classic games, a simpler story that focuses on the Chief, and it really shows that they listen if they hopefully bring back the classic gameplay.

Well since we dont know what the story is about or how the gameplay is going to be then it’s all pure speculation until then

But…what if they’re wrong?

“I hope infinite has as good of a campaign as H5, I just love playing as Locke, I also love spartan charge!”

Am I just supposed to let that slide?

(Clearly I’m joking everyone is entitled to their opinion)

Honestly if you slap the classic graphics onto halo 4’s campaign it would probably be one of my favorite. Something about 343’s “over-designing” style just takes me out of it. But that’s just a personal thing. Very good story writing though.

I don’t think it’s right to tell people how to feel, but I see it as being more beneficial as a whole by sharing skepticism and telling people to be careful of being blinded by hype. I’m assuming most of those people are just trying to make sure fans aren’t going to waste their money if it’s clear that the game is not going to be a good finished product and that the devs have clearly ignored the fans. A few games have done similar things in the past. Maybe they’re not coming off like that, but I think that’s the intention. Frankly, 343 has made some mistakes in the past. Their track record isn’t too good, and their marketing may paint a warped picture of what the game actually will be like. Don’t get me wrong, I’m liking what I’m seeing so far, but take it with a grain of salt.

TL;DR: Be excited all you want, but stay informed.

I’m somewhat excited, but curious above all. And you better believe I’m skeptical as HELL. the past couple of years have been nothing but one step forward and 2 steps back. So I’m gonna wait and see the gameplay first. let all the idiots who pre-ordered play the game day 1 and test it out for me so I know if it’s broken or not. Never got tricked into buying a horrible product and I don’t intend on breaking that streak.

How are people who play the game on Day One “idiots”? It’s a new Halo game, of course people are gonna play it on Day One. You sure sound like a cheery person…

Preordering assumes a certain amount of blind faith in a dev or game. There have been many games, especially in recent years, that launched in either an incomplete or broken state, or launched as a game different than what gamers expected. These types of launches led many players to be disappointed with their preorders and day 1 purchases. Even Halo 5 was affected by this, as it launched absent many of the multiplayer modes that had been present in previous titles.

So, after a certain point, it becomes the gamer’s responsibility know what they’re getting into with a game purchase. Gamers who continually preorder and end up disappointed aren’t learning from history. That’s not to say that every person who preorders will be disappointed, but for games that receive mixed to negative reviews, most people who preordered them express displeasure in having supported a game that ended up being subpar. With Halo 5 being a controversial game that had a mixed reception, it’s not surprising that some players are wary about whether Infinite will “knock it out of the park”, as they say. And if Infinite ends up garnering disappointment in similar fashion to Halo 5, then there will probably be a certain amount of “I told you so” going around. On the other hand, if Infinite ends up being a success, then it doesn’t hurt the players who waited to see the final product before purchasing; if anything, they’ll be more confident and happy with their purchase when they make it.

I understand this, but the idea of calling people who will get the game on Day One “idiots” is stupid. More than half of the people on this forum will get the game on day one, no question.

The only people worse then this this are people who say you’re stupid for liking Halo 4 or 5, or saying that “You’re the reason why Halo 4 and or 5 suck”. Those people can go jump in a lake. People should be free to have an opinion without being attacked for it.

I am both incredibly excited for this game & a little scared… I hope we get some news soon so I can lean more towards to excited side

All I’m gonna say is, don’t get overly hyped for a game before you even see game-play or even play it.

Its kinda stupid how people over hype a game just to be dissapointed later on.

I will say I am hyped for it, but not to the extent where when I get I would’ve expected better if it turns out bad.
