I read an interview of frank o connor before halo 4 came out and he said that they are not afraid to show master chief face. So do we really want to she his face ? Personally i dont and i think that i am not the only one who has that opinion. So why they want to do that ? Please 343 dont do that mistake.
Yeah don’t show his face!
I’d be fine with seeing his face. Seems really ridiculous to open up his humanity more and more and develop his character and yet still keep his face a mystery. Chief is a person, not a faceless machine.

We already know what his face looks like, go look at a mirror!
Seriously though I’ve grown into the character over the past decade, controlling him, it has made me feel like I am Master Chief. Regardless of whatever the novels say, I understand that that is all canon, but the level of immersion when I play a Master Chief-Halo game is surreal. The subtle reveal of his eyes at the end of Halo 4 in my opinion is as much as I can tolerate. No more please!
We’ve known what his face looks like forever. There is no true “immersion” when we have seen his face as a kid and had his adult face described several times in books.
I hope they do. Chief’s face hasn’t been shown fully for 4 games, and probably 5. I think if they say they aren’t afraid to show his face, then they will show it. I also think there are hints toward Chief dying in Halo 6. Steve Downes said that he wouldn’t mind it if the Chief died. That could be a hint, trying to get fans to think about it and understand that it may not be a possibility. I wouldn’t be surprised if 343i showed Chief’s face right before he dies (if he does) at the end of Halo 6/ Halo Xbox One 2.
We have a full description of his face, we can easily infer what he looks like, he is becoming more of his own character instead of an empty shell for the player, for females they can’t immerse themselves as the Chief, I want to see his face
Crimson, Noble 6 and Rookie have taken over the vessel role now

Exactly. So people can stop using that excuse that the player is Chief.

Well that’s great buddy. But you have to understand that in the new Halo trilogy Chief will become more of a person. He’s not the same as the players, and it’s obvious that 343i’s goal isn’t to make players feel like they are the Chief, but to get to know him and understand that he isn’t just a shell of armor or a machine.

I think removing his helm would be the best idea. Too many people get caught up in this form of flattery. John is not the most amazing character in the series. In fact, every spartan has on thing that makes them demigod-like prior to being a spartan 2 or 3 making them the best in their fields. There is a spartan 2 named 137 Carris who is the strongest spartan and while she was still a kid, prior to augmentation accidentally killed her combat instructor. 1’s, 1.1’s, & 4’s are a little bit more diverse, as their prior service, or birth and talents in the case of the 1.1’s. I liked how halo reach and spartan ops it was you. I would love to see chief as a side character to redeem his lack of influence; if you look back through the series he is kind of a tool, and Cortana is the one pooling the strings. I think MC’s impact in the story is paramount, but not as the player.
In short, show his face and make him a side character to show off his skills. The illusion of the naive needs to be shattered; MC is not you, black, a girl, a robot, or chuck norris.
Sorry for the double post, sort of trailed off and forgot to add this bit:
John is the luckiest, but other then that he is rather plain for Spartans. Sure he has some serious medals and his kill count is ridiculous, but compared to other Spartans he is just boring. Kat could not only keep up with him, but could out shine him due to her ungodly IT skills.

Even Chief acknowledges this, he thinks spartans like Fred and Sam are better than him
Not showing his face is an archaic tradition that no longer applies to a character that is exposing his humanity; in fact, not showing his face is the polar opposite of what they should do for the sake of his development.

I mostly agree, but making him a side character is a bit redundant at this point. He’s very clearly being set up as a messianic archetype, complete with Jesus symbolism, and coupled with his character development he really can’t be anything but the main character now, or at leas the focal point of the Saga. Plus he DOES have an outstanding characteristic other than his luck (EG: plot armor) that sets him above the others: he’s the best leader, and that fits perfectly into his role as savior of humanity.

No. Stop. I remember an interview with Bungie saying they wanted the player to think that their face is underneath the helmet of Master Chief. No. I am not John 117, you are not John 117. I am not a giant -Yoink- Spartan, we are not the Reclaimer. John is, Spartan 117, a person who knows nothing but war. He is his own person, his own spirit, his own character.
They need to show his entire scared up face. Halo 4 was the only Halo game where I felt like John wasn’t a robot, then I saw his eyes and thought “wow, he is human”
They don’t have to show it right away, but I’d like to see his entire face in Halo 6 for beating the campaign on legendary.
I thought that you would agree with me but after reading your post i am a little disappointed.
Who’s post? Mine?
I think 343i will have a helmet free Master Chief at some point in the Forerunner Saga. I just hope it’s during the last game. It wouldn’t bother me if he was helmet free during a majority of that last game.
