Don't nerf the mangler, 343i please dont make the same mistake that ruined other games by listening to pros

Universally whenever people make criticism about games, its about performance, servers, store and that kind of thing. All valid, all indeed major issues that can break a game, but what i RARELY see being discussed is the issue of Pro players ruining games. Which, they have before

A good example of how Pro players have tarnished Halo for everyone, is the lack of playble elites. Pro players dont like the hitboxes, being the anti-fun types they are, they got their wish.

Most people don’t seem to realize how detrimental it is whenever devs listen to those kinds of fringe players, these people are always less than 10% of a game’s total playerbase and listening to such a small minority of players is a mistake. This ruins the experience for everyone. Not a good move, if you ask me.

These people don’t play or perceive games the same way the overwhelming majority of players do, from casuals to good players and even those looking to have competitive fun.

No offense to them, everyone should play games at their own pace but like, its important to bring this up because these people on are on wholenother dimension, their idea of entertainment does not reflect or is remotely compatible to ours. and making changes based on that will just ruin the game for everyone while also making it feel more boring and static. They don’t like fun.

Their ‘‘complains’’ are not even valid either, they’re not cohesive arguments that have any roots in any understanding of game design, weapon sandbox ect. Its literally just them coping because they had a bad game, they are selfish and think everyone should play like them and the game should abide by their 'rules’

Halo Infinite is already suffering because of them, a good example is the Ravager and Commando, guns who were perfectly fine in beta and everyone enjoyed just fine. Nerfing the mangler is just gonna make people NOT gonna wanna pick it up and as a result the weapon sandbox will be staler than it already is.

Halo multiplayer is all about the sandbox, weapons and vehicle. This is Halo’s DNA. Ruining the sandbox kills the identity and flow of the game

343i please, do the sensible thing and listen to 99% of the playerbase. I am sure it isnt difficult to see why this is better for the game. Leave mangler as is, it’s fine. Everyone agrees

The average player doesn’t care about eSports or wants to be in some pro team, the average player wants to have fun. Custom Games has a audience 10 times larger. To the average player, eSports is just a fun thing some occasionally watch, nothing anyone really takes seriously. Not everyone is aspiring to be Cloud9 or whatever.

If you want examples as to how Pro players actually destroy games, heres two well known examples:

Rainbow Six Siege

People like to diss on the devs for these games for making them so boring, ruining any real fun and magical moments they had, but what most don’t bring up. is that pro players whinning to the devs caused it in the first place, and the devs foolishly listening to them And now, look at how those games are doing

To me having fun is playing a balanced shooter that takes skill. In my opinion nothing should be easy at all. I mean. It’s a competitive arena shooter. Why should there be things like the mangler? I don’t agree with nerfing it. It’s fine as it is but our idea of fun isn’t running around with easy to use weapons. Our idea of fun is using difficult to aim guns. There is a reason why snipe+br and snipe+pistol is a popular custom game mode. It’s because aiming and having skill with aiming IS the fun part.

Why do you think Halo 5 HCS settings had no autos? It wasn’t because they didn’t like fun. It’s because they think without autos is far MORE fun.

This really comes down to two spereate modes. Competitive should be spereate from the rest of the playlists. It should have it’s own weapon tunes. It’s own movement. Everything. Because you aren’t going to budge competitive people. They like what they like just like you like what you like.

Competitive people can want things like elites. Not all think the same way. On top of that the elite hotbox thing isn’t really a complaint.

Overwatch was not ruined by the pros. In fact a lot of what the pros recommended would’ve actually fixed the game.

Overwatch was an example of a game where Devs refused to act upon changes where changes needed to occur. Many changes orbited around where changes truly needed to occur, but never actually touched on these factors.

Overwatch was a game that was ruined by the Devs inaction and inability to make radical or necessary change, not because the pros and esports dictated the outcome.

It’s actually funny, the character that needed the hardest impact ended up causing the biggest “controversy” overall. McCree needed to get hit with a hard nerf, and the best they could muster up was a name change.

The mangler is pretty powerful. I recognized this way early on when the rest of my friends thought it was garbo and now it’s S tier. Moving the weapon to a Tier 2 spot (akin to Bulldog/Heatwave) would be a fantastic change without outright nerfing it.

If anything Overwatch is a prime example of why of Devs should listen to pros.

Most reasonable idea to nerf it is reduce the ammo count. 36 is a silly number. The rest could be up to debate. But it plays fine imo. Maybe increase timer or limit to one on map at a time. At the end of the day won’t really affect casual play.

No, Dude., it’s not hard to get into the top 10% of the game. The criteria for pro is to get a head ranking in Onyx and a kd greater than 1.5, so I think they probably account for about 3-5% of the total player base.
Just like YouTuber, they as a small number but have a certain fan group influence is more than ordinary players and entertainment players. Sometimes they are, sometimes they will make mistakes, this time I agree with you.
Yes,mangler is strong,Just because their other weapons are too weak, they cut the good VK in the test into garbage. Other weapons are also a long story. If manlger is weakened, will it weaken BR in the future?
I think it’s more important that 343 has to learn how to balance the game, if they only weaken and remove that doesn’t balance the game…

The hysteria over that Snip3down tweet is unreal. Almost no one wants to see the Mangler have a damage nerf of any kind. The main suggestion, overwhelmingly, has been to move it to a tier 2 red bar spawn timer just like the Heatwave, Bulldog, Shock Rifle and others. The gun is certainly at least as effective as those weapons in many, many situations. Would this be such a detriment to the casual playerbase? Does casual enjoyment really depend upon having 2-3 Manglers in play at any given time?

In addition, this suggestion is really only meant for Ranked/HCS settings. The competitive community is pretty clear in its understanding that competitive Halo and casual/social Halo are two very different things. If a change like this could be implemented without changing social settings, all the better.
