what about the idea of not changing the dmr to fix it, just eliminate the gun. why does it exist? it doesnt fill a niche, (at least not one that existed in previous halo games and they all worked fine (i do not think halo reach counts as a halo game)
then the br would be the utility weapon( i think it needs a faster kill time and more difficulty to use) and the carbine and light rifle would have their niche to fill

All the weapons in halo 4 kill Spartans too fast. We do not need any weapon buffs, especially the Br. The br is good the way it is. Certain weapons like the boltshot or the dmr needs to be nerfed (or removed)
I like variety, so I would keep DMR, but with lesser bullet magnetism and bigger bloom. I liked it’s gameplay mechanics in Reach (with controlling rate of fire according to situation) and it would not only make DMR more balanced, but also much more interesting. For DMR users and other weapon’s users it would be win/win solution.

I was against bloom on Reach and would be against it for halo 4. Bloom promoted randomness which didn’t support skill. I think reducing the rate of fire by a significant amount of time would definitely be a better solution.

Randomness (and luck) is integral part of battles, not only in video games, but in real life as well
You’ve heard that fortune favors the better? Reach’s bloom mechanics are it’s clear example. People who tries clueless shooting with DMR almost always lose to those, who know when to bullet-spam and when to wait a second til then can place their final headshot.
For long distance it force people to lower their rate of fire without messing weapons default rof (something important for people who actually feel the weapon).

The Halo 4 BR has the slowest kill time of any Utility weapon in any Halo game accept the Needle Rifle in Halo Reach and it kills too fast?

Bloom is a broken mechanic and should never return to Halo. Do you know what bloom even does?
Player 1 and Player 2 duel each other using Reach DMRs, Player 2 paces his shots while Player 1 spams the trigger. Player 1 walks away with the kill, why? Because bloom will always favor the player who shoots the most, you’re putting out more bullets giving you a higher chance to kill.
Bloom hurts skill and encourages mindless spraying, there’s a reason the community wanted to get rid of it.
Honestly, the UNSC already has 1 precision weapon, and that one is relatively balanced. Do we really need an OP sniper hybrid? Drop the DMR people, they did so in the Canon and they should do so in the game.

From my experience with Reach it’s totally opposite: it depends on distance between players if bullet spam pays off with taking down shield or not. After that however, until bullet-spamer is very lucky, it almost always pays off to wait until you can place final headshot.
Bullet spam and trigger mashing is more deadly when you have no bloom, because every bullet hits the target as long as you can aim straight (which makes DMR much overpowered on big maps, and is the reason why DMR destroys Big Team Slayer in Halo 4). More, thanks to Halo 4 DMR’s bullet magnetism, you don’t even need to aim straight.
If DMR will stay as dull, boring, overpowered mini-sniper rifle, then I say yes, it should be considered powerweapon and so, removed from loadouts. But with proper fixing we can make DMR balanced and fun weapon, that requires both skills (because of lesser bullet magnetism) and tactics (because of bigger bloom).

Hey, if you want bloom, go play Reach. You can enjoy the trigger mashing fans of the worst Halo of all time. In the meantime, we will keep moving to bring Halo back to it’s real roots. And be rewarded by a competitive environment where skill and not luck rules.

I think Reach is the worst of all Halos, so thank you very much. However DMR’s roots are in Reach, where it worked well (or at least wasn’t THAT overpowered), so if 343i wants to keep this dull, one-shot precission rifle among the others, more interesting burst-shot rifles, they’ve should at least keep it’s gameplay mechanics as well.
You must understand that winning isn’t based on skill alone, but on tactics as well. My skills in Halo are below average, so I’m trying my best to keep my k/d ratio straight. There are certain tactics in “luck rules” and every gambler will tell you that. If you don’t like bloom or simply cannot appreciate it’s mechanics, then there are 3 other default precission rifle to choose from, but don’t take away something, that’s interesting for someone else.
And one more thing: if you want “real roots, where you are rewarded by skill” go play Quake/UT, on which Bungie has based it’s first multiplayer mode. Later Halos (from 2 up now) are rather about having something for everyone. That’s why Halo is still second most played shooter franchise, despise being Xbox exclusive.

Even though it’s claimed that the br is the slowest kill time it is really fast to to kill a spartan. Like I said, no weapons should be buffed. Some of them should be nerfed.
The DMR just needs a nerf is all. You remove one weapon, you have to adjust every other weapon and then you have people who are going to nerdrage about the DMR being removed. I use both however in BTB and TS. A nerf is fine for the weapon.
