Ever since Reach, the trend for vehicles has been just plain crap.
A Scorpion tank can now be destroyed by DMR fire and a Warthog can be almost completely destroyed by driving off a ledge. This isn’t right.
For Halo 5, vehicle combat should be much more prominent again.
Vehicles should go back to like they were in Halo 3. Really, only heavy weapons and grenades should be able to kill them, not a clip from a magnum.
I just want to enjoy vehicular combat again.
Remember when it took TEAMWORK to get rid of vehicles? Ah, the good ol’ days.
At the very least, give the Scorpion driver control of the machine gun again.
But I’m with you 100%! I never have “Oh crap!” moments when I see a Warthog coming in 4 like I did in 3. I get the weapons overheating, but replacing the armor with cardboard really killed vehicle combat faster than two dudes with Plasma Pistols and Stickies.
I remember playing Halo 3 a few months back.
I was on Avalanche, BTB.
I grabbed a Scorpion, along with my teammate, and we headed out in a small convoy to the enemy base.
A giant battle went down though. We fought through Choppers, Banshees, Ghosts. It was all so chaotic and insane and just plain fun.
Ahhh, but that was back when tanks were actually tanks.
I miss these moments so much.

Well, spawning with that combination doesn’t really help either.
LOOKING AT YOU, HALO 4!
“Guys they have a tank, a mantis, a warthog and a ghost!”
“Dude, don’t worry my classes give me a Plasma Pistol, plasma grenades and extra grenade damage”

“Wait, hang on. Let me call in my Spartan Laser from my ordnance drop.”
“Man, vehicle combat is great!”
Have to agree they ruined Vehicles in H4/Reach, they seriously need to sort that out but killed any remote fun in h4, Reach was bareable because we had more room but all the maps in h4 were small, forced crowded areas making it easy to take down thing’s like the mantis but they should get rid of the dmr/sniper rifle dps to the vehicles since it’s too easy to take down a banshee now, it’s bad enough that the banshee has no room to move around but the fact is there is no reason a sniper should be that powerful, not even at long range.
If they wanted realism then they should have looked at Battlefield 3 because in there it’s more skillful to use a sniper, it doesn’t involve snipers taking out jets on a daily basis, I’m pretty sure the vehicles in halo need more maneuverability in future halo games.
I don’t usually use vehicles, but when I do I’m playing halo 3.
Totally agree with this.
I don’t mean to seem like I’m promoting my post (I’m not going to ask for replies), I just think this poll is hilarious.

I mean, did one person ever ask for vehicles to be weak? IT’S HALO for goodness sake!
> I mean, did one person ever ask for vehicles to be weak? IT’S HALO for goodness sake!
There were people that thought they were too powerful in Halo 3. From the perspective of a 4v4 player, warthogs were more difficult to destroy on Standby than Mantises are in CTF.
Aside form explosives, it was too hard to do anything to really deter a vehicle in Halo 3. If one team got both warthogs, it was pretty much over on several maps.
That isn’t to say that Halo 4 was an improvement. Just that Halo 3 could have benefited from some adjustments.

Improvements can always be made, of course, but H3 got it damnnearperfect in terms of weapon balancing.
From the first, does anyone really find it difficult at all to take down a Mantis? Just whip out your plasma pistol and you’re golden. Any half competent person should be able to eliminate all the vehicles on a map before the opening minute is done. Such is almost always the case. And the Mantis is no exception.
And have you played any gametype on Valhalla? What with missile pods spawning every two minutes vehicles scarcely last thirty seconds half the time. That was one thing about vehicle gameplay that truly irked me in H3.
In any case, the people that complained about vehicles being too powerful were those either unwilling to make use of them, or too uncoordinated to a) take care of the vehicle themselves (with stickies and other explosives) or, as was most often the case b) simply unable to use teamwork (as they should have) to achieve their purpose.
In this case its better to tone down the ordanance so it doesn’t give you a Incineration Cannon or something ridiculous, or maybe gametype specific loadouts like in BTB no spawning with Plasma Pistols or Grenades, etc. The only reason I went here was cause on Ragnarok I had a ghost, A ghost that killed a mantis, another ghost, a warthog, and a banshee, singlehandedly, LOL, but the mantis or Banshee was probably damaged a bit, but seriously, you would think I would have died from that, but I died by being EMPed and Plasma Naded by a fellow, funny thing is that the guy who killed me stuck the ghost from across the map, while the guy who EMPed me threw a frag and missed.
Vehicle health isn’t as much of a problem as being able to start off with a Plasma Pistol and Plasma Grenade.
