Right in the feels, and the reason being that I have heard it before. From Halsey, after John says “I’ll always be there when you need me” in ‘The Package’ from Halo Legends. I guess John won’t always be there for Cortana this time round. Why are you quoting from Halsey instead of Cortana? I hear you ask. Because Cortana is basically and intended to be a copy of Halsey in terms of knowledge and personality in the form of an A.I.
And also, in Halo 2 Cortana says the same thing on High Charity, before John leaves her there in order to get back to earth, after he says “After I deal with Truth…”. Maybe this is a foreshadowing, I am not hinting that Truth is back, I am hinting that we may discover the truth. The truth of what? I guess we can only wait and find out…
Or maybe John has to leave Cortana again, on Requiem. John may have to leave her in order to get back to Earth again, maybe because it is under attack by the ‘Ancient Evil’.

I was thinking that too. And at the same time I couldn’t help but think that she looked sad. Maybe Cortana can’t be saved.

I hope so, I can’t handle all these feels already. I got chills when she said that line at the end. It obviously has a big significance to the story.

Perhaps the “ultimate sacrifice” will be choosing between saving Cortana, or saving Earth.
I really hope they don’t end this on a cliff hanger. I really hope they don’t.
dont mean to sound like a spoil sport with all the excitment buzzing around at the minute but it sounded a bit stupid the say she said it. It sounded like a she had to think for a second before finishing he sentence.
Also it’s not the exact word’s she said before she didnt say “dont make a girl a promise <mark>if you know</mark> you cant keep it” but it maybe due to her rampancy but it still it good feeling because its a reference to halo 2.
My speculation is that he goes to Earth Alone, something is there… I don’t know what. Then he finds Halsey, flies to requriem, only to find out the Cortana has been corrupted by Forerunner technology, and she is going nuts trying to kill Chief. Eventually, Chief gets her, but she is messed up and Halsey may not be able to fix her.
