Don't like ranked arena points system

I’m not really a fan of how the rank system decides what gives you more rank. Right now it seems 100% focused on +KDA and that 100% makes sense on slayer game types but that is only one of the four game types. There is still oddball, CTF, and strongholds where +KDA should not be what gives you the most points.

Oddball it should be ball holding time and kills with the ball, doesn’t seem to really count for much right now. I’ve played games where people don’t even want to pick the ball up because they know what gains them rank is +KDA, they need to win the game first but that’s someone else problem. Need to defend the ball carrier to win the game but theres no points in that, better to just go hunt kills then keep the ball carrier alive, no medals for that. Then you lose, ‘best player’ on your team has 27 kills 9 deaths 0 assists and 0 ball holding time and he’s complaining cause now all his kills count for nothing.
You should want to hold that ball but why right now, hold time counts for nothing and the results of being a ball carrier is death and that’s bad when you have everyone worried about there precious KDA.

Capture the flag, guess what! It should be all about the flag, well its not. Again all about +KDA, need to capture flags to win the game but your ranked gains again are from +KDA and not captures, It should be all about captures, returns, holding it for extend periods, kills with the flag, killing flag carriers, defending flag carriers. You should want to get the flag, defend the flag, not focusing on KDA. I’ve played games where I won’t get escort with the flag cause there are no points in it for them, its all about that +KDA. Guys again won’t bother to get the flag because its the KDA that’s worth, winning the game is someone else’s problem, all they are interested in is the gains.
I played a CTF match this morning, I got 3 flag captures in quick succession without dyeing we probably won the game in record time, I got 2 kills 1 death 1175 points. No metals or extra points for me getting majority of the points for winning the game but you know who did clean up, the guy who just killed and farmed KDA the whole time while I won him the game.

Strongholds it should be all about the grabbing of the points but again its not, its all about that +KDA, just another twisted way your expected to farm it. It should be all about taking the points, holding them, time in held area, points taken solo.

Do you see the trend here? What is currently in place is a very lazy approach compared to what would be appropriate for these other game types.

Rewarding people for doing objective tasks is also not a very good way of deciding contribution though. You can only hold the Oddball because your team are facilitating that.

I agree the current system is terrible though and needs serious reworks. I think realistically k/d is a strong stat for contribution to an objective game, but only if you win.

Maybe it just needs to give out more points for objective. It does give out points but maybe just not enough. You do gain points off of slays obviously, and they’re important to the objective too. The ball carrier in many situations should drop the ball and help his team mate slay out before picking it up again to prevent his team going down and basically just being in a 1v2 or 1v3 etc. Unless you’re playing the ball (throwing it off the map)

Maybe it will be tweaked, but yea your points on the board matter so much. Idk if its necessarily having to be +kda, but your score seems to have to be at some threshold, and the easiest way to score those points are your standard kills and assist. It even saves you from deranking if your score is high in a losing game…but it’s never going to be high enough for the ball carrier or flag runner. Which I agree doesn’t make sense because although we have these individual scores for each player, this isn’t a match of 1 teams total score vs another teams total score. It’s still 50 kills in slayer , 2 rounds of oddball now, and your standard who has more caps.

There should be extra points given out for special circumstances as carrier. Idk what actual number would be enough though. Something to scale with the your team scoring as a whole since the carrier is still integral to the win. Especially considering the matches where the team severely out slayin the other still loses because the objective player was so slick in getting away and playing the ball.

Here is a good example why the current system doesn’t work. We played CTF and the other team played for kills. We paid for those flags in lives, and crushed them on the score board but all of us are -KDA so as I’ve been saying since rank gain seems to be focused on +KDA we would have got next to no increase here because the points for the game count for next to nothing. Mite as well have not played the game.
What should we have done? Bait them with there flag to farm +KDA? Stand in there base and wait for them to spawn and kill them over and over to make up for the points we should have got for crushing them in the game we were playing? Our 5 flags to there 1,
