My hopes are high for halo 5 but take in consideration that 343 has less time to make 5 then 4 and has more demands, most of you know this but it’s just food for thought for those who don’t know but i wont let this keep me from having my hopes
I’m not expecting anything revolutionary from them with Halo 5, but what I am hoping for is a well executed multiplayer (arena based with some form of a ranking system+spectator mode) and a fairly significant graphical improvement but I don’t expect much of an improvement for the other features.
Less calendar time. But how much more productive time?
They have more people working on it. They aren’t trying to establish a company culture and procedure. They don’t have the majority (?) of their team working on their first Halo game. They know what challenges to expect from developing certain features.
The first time you work a complicated math problem, you make mistakes. You have to backtrack. Erase, redo, and relearn things you thought you knew. By the time the chapter test rolls around, you’re able to work it much faster and, assuming you aren’t flunking, much more accurately.
I expect a much more polished, complete product. It just remains to be seen what design choices they make. Hopefully they aren’t going to flunk. =D
I have faith, only because 343 has acknowledged their mistakes with Halo 4, and they know damn well that this is their last chance for many. I have a feeling that Halo 5 will recapture the series’ former glory.
I have no choice but to be optimistic.

Optimus-tic?
It will be fine. They have a bigger team now and have learnt a lot from Halo 4. Having the capacity the new console offers will help them as well. Its a Halo game its almost guaranteed decent sales at least.
343i has a team of 300 people.
Not having enough time is the last thing that I’m concerned about. However, I am a little concerned about Cloud-Computing possibly making Halo 5 require an always-online connection.
I just think it’s fairly safe to say that expecting Halo 3.5 is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Getting Halo 4.5 would guarantee my disappointment.

That’s why I’m hoping for Halo 5.

Booooooooooooooooooo!

Me too. And I’m hoping they go back to Halo 3 and then evaluate everything within the context of how it works in that type of game. JiP, armor abilities (as equipment), and limited loadouts are all in my picture of what I would like Halo 5 to be.
Reach’s forge and theater.
But yeah, Infinity settings were an abomination in my biased opinion.
Exactly.
This poster said it best:

Do you (or anyone else) know how big Bungie was back during the days when they were taking 3 years for each game?
I’m curious because if they were considerably smaller than 343’s team of “300”, then I will be a little more at ease with the reduced development time.
My hopes are high, my expectations are medium.

I know I stumbled across that a while back. I honestly don’t remember. I’mhonestly not that worried about team size. At some point it almost becomes nothing but bloating.
If they have a clear focus and established company culture with people that have now been through the process once with the company I am confident that Halo 5 will be more “complete” than Halo 4.
Keep in mind that Halo 2’s development was a disaster.
I’m not gonna get my hopes up tooooo high, but I do have expectations (that are reasonable) which will have to generally be met to keep me a fan of halo.
-
A forging canvas no smaller than forge world. Not unreasonable?
-
Does not fall behind any other halo game when it comes to choice of vehicles/weapons and other sandbox items (eg. reach had 9 vehicles, halo 3 forge had 8 - I expect 9 minimum)
-
Player count increase 16v16 would be suffice.
-
An abundance of customs options
-
User-friendly UI
-
Proper ranking system
My point is that halo 5 is going to be on the next gen console, so it should at least feel like it and not show any signs of regression or just a lack of progress in general.
I think the graphics are good enough as they are tbh, and although they probably are going to anyway, I don’t think that 343 need to spend much time improving them.
They made the best Halo game story, I have very high hopes

i too enjoyed the story. The only thing i can say is that a little longer would be nicer.
