I’m not going to complain or praise the TU, but I do want to bring something that bothers ME to light.
Obviously since the TU, there are more power-weapons laying around for people to grab. And as we know, people on Xbox are so friendly and teamwork motivated. (indefinite sarcasm). However, what I am noticing more of, is that people will shoot their own teammates or even betray them just to OBTAIN the power-weapon.
Seriously guys, just let the rule “First come, first serve” take place. If youre as good as you say you are, just use what you got and make your own Kills happen. I know there are tons of talented players in the Halo world and from a fellow Halo lover,
I would agree with you, and I never betray a teammate for a power weapon, but if you play Infinity Slayer for example, and care about your KD or CSR, you’re unfortunately also in competition with your teammates.
While I condemn this kind of behavior myself, some people are just greedy and some are just a-holes and believe that because they think they are (or actually are) better that their teammates they are entitled to all the sniper and beam rifles or whatever.
It is a shame that this has to happen, but unfortunately it isn’t new to Halo. At least friendly splatters were fixed in Infinity; especially considering booting wasn’t present for that. I am somewhat grateful for friendly fire being off in modes like Pro, though. It makes booting guys like this possible, and was my hope that real FF was turned off in IS so that proper punishment could be dealt to guys like that prior to 343’s patch.
I haven’t had this as a problem myself, but I do think booting should be implied more, or even at all, I haven’t had the option to boot before yet in 4…now that I think of it.
I never betray for power weapons. Once maybe twice I’ve betrayed an AC using teammate who’s camped in the same spot for the whole game with a Boltshot, but I never betray for power weapons!
Funny.
Just finished a game fitting your scenario.
Ragnarok, I’m the first grabbing the sniper. Teammate swears the whole game about why a newb like me shouldn’t grab that thing. He even shot me with the Mantis’ rockets to annoy me.
K/D turned out +12 for me, tool of destruction… You might already figured that - Sniper. I was totally satisfied, messaged him not to insult people beforehand.
He replied - telling how much my sniping sucks and what a kid I am.
By the way, he has a total play time of 29 days. I mean - SERIOUSLY!
(>_<)
sigh
I thought the idiots from former Halo games had moved to CoD, but I guess some dumbheads still remain.
Nevertheless, the community HAS become better. I remember daring touch any power weapons in H2 and H3 - I usually had angry enemies in front of me and even angrier “teammates” in my back!
> 343i just needs to remove friendly-fire from all multiplayer game-types (with some exceptions, such as Grifball).
I think we need to be able to boot players if they are being jerks.
And you can still kill a team mate with a vehicle even with Friendly Fire enabled. I accidentally killed a team mate on Ragnorak today when my Ghost hit a rock, bounced sideways, flipped in the air and the back end struck him. I apologized immediately (one of the best things about a Mic is being able to apologize immediately after this happens) and hope I didn’t get booted.
And one doesn’t need to just be killing team mates for bad behaviour. I had one guy whom was mad cause I beat him to the Tank, so he jumped up on the tank, then kept standing in front of the barrel. Eventually I had to shoot, which hit him and the tank blew up killing me.
I’ve also seen jerks whom betray their cammo’d team mates because they got the sniper weapon first. So they stand in front of the cammo sniper to block the shot (hoping a richochet will kill him) or draw attention to him so that an enemy starts shooting at them.
I hope you guys do mark these sorts of people as Unsporting Conduct in the their Reputation.

Actually, if I get the gun first, and Friendly Fire is on, and they try shooting me, then I’ll just go ahead and kill them with the gun I got. I did that twice to someone, once because the person got mad because I captured the flag (Boltshot to the face) and then again because A) I betrayed him and B) I took his shotgun. I got my first boot after the second betrayal.

I know you can still kill a teammate with a vehicle, which is something 343i can and should fix. Some people will say “I don’t think that’s possible” but that’s a load of Yoink! It could be easily done.
As for the tank situation, that’s a good point. Perhaps we should make it so that teammates can’t stand on top of vehicles, or maybe, and I know this is controversial, perhaps remove the ability to commit suicide, at least when inside a vehicle.
As for your third scenario, I guess you’re out of luck there, cause there’s no way to counter that. However, just because removing friendly-fire wont solve the problem 100%, doesn’t mean it isn’t the best solution. After having read many arguments from both sides of the debate, I conclude that removing friendly-fire would be the most effective solution.
Also, I always give players a negative player review if they purposefully betrayed me.
