So the new “event” is out and we are back to being forced to do “challenges” in playlists we may or may not want to play doing challenges we may or may not have the opportunity to get in said playlists.
December’s event was GREAT: Play any playlist, any game mode, complete a match, win or lose you get an item per day.
Please put it back to how it was

I absolutely agree. Even if it’s just get X amount of kills, or something that can be done in most playlists that’d be fine. Elimination has always been a mode I hate, yet here I am playing it, because it’s the only way to progress.
Remember when games were played for fun?

Yes, no point in doing the event if it isn’t fun, so I don’t. If you are still playing it despite not having fun then you value cosmetics over your own pleasure.
Not saying that the events should be handled this way, however.

My god these forums are so god dang dumb… Gets stuck doing anything so often because they over complicate them instead of just using a normal forum set up. Had to delete the original post make a new one just because it kept getting stuck when I hit “Save Edit”.
One of the purposes of events and challenges was to get people to try new things, it was one of the reasons they exist in the first place. I remember them mentioning that if it wasn’t for that then they’d just had put everything in the store for people to buy instead.
It’s a situation of picking your poison…
These events are sadly just not meant for people like you, unwilling to try something different for a change in the long run.

They could make complete X amount of matches. That way we try it, and if we hate it we do not need to keep interacting with it

I’m particularly fond of getting BTB challenges still… when it’s been broken for weeks. And then I get banned because apparently failing to connect/server timeouts count as quitting.
Challenges should be able to progress in ANY game. If you need to make them more time consuming, then that’s fine. I’d rather play 10 games of something I enjoy than a single game of something that I -Yoink!-ing hate.
Stop trying to force player choices for no damn reason.

Every time I do challenges, it leaves me feeling angry that instead of playing whatever I want to play, I have to play what an algorithm decided I should play next. It’s frustrating to see mechanics like a fun progression system disappear in favor of a system that milks players for money.

No one is forcing you to play anything.

Nobody’s forcing you to do anything. If you don’t like the game mode don’t play for a week or two.
Such an ignorant response. You obviously understand the other argument yet your alternative is to stop playing all together for two weeks……

Thing is we DO play them.
(literally OP and I together, when I think I can without having a panic attack, which is another can of worms entirely if events aren’t accessible for people with disabilities)
We played the new playlist last night. I wanted to at least get the first two items and hopefully have a decent time. We DID try the new thing for multiple games - so goal met for 343 there I guess. I had a few okay moments, but overall the new gametype was frustrating and not enjoyable (just my experience).
We’re fine with trying new things. That’s not an issue. When those new things are mandatory in order to get some new shiny stuff, it’s simply not fun. Yes, rewards are not required for gameplay, but that’s the carrot they’re dangling in front of us to get us to play for challenges over and over and over even if we’ve given the new playlist an honest try and it’s not fun.

and we’re still forced into ranked.

Certain challenges really don’t fit with some game modes. Even if I love the game modes, it can be a total pain to do some, like KO’s with certain guns that simply don’t always spawn in some maps. (like when the map decides you get Plasma Pistols but need Mangler KOs).
I also play the game exclusively multiplayer on Xbox, and that makes getting 20+ KOs on FFA a bit of a drag.

You are aware that is a slippery slope argument right?

This cyber showdown is a joke, rewards are utterly worthless and the event challanges take the space from the regular ones. (don’t get me wrong, weekly rewards are just as worthless).

Did you not know? 343 are control freaks, they made it clear in H5.

As someone who is largely unable to participate in PvP due to a psychological disability, I miss out on a lot of challenges. I currently rely on any XP boosts I earn and play bootcamp until I get a little past the 50XP earned per match and the boost runs out. I can deal with that for regular season rewards… But for event stuff for me it’s not just “is it worth the potential frustration of it”, but rather “do I want this particular coating/amor piece/etc. enough for it to be worth having a panic attack by triggering my disability”.
At least I got my pink AR…
As an aside, the bots or whatever on Twitter messaging me to buy them points and they can get me all the stuff. Lol. Nope.

for instance i have the pulse rilfe challenge which doesn’t spawn on most maps and is hard to kill with.

The game mode was fun at first, but after being forced to play it to level up the event pass I hate it. BTB is all I want to play, but no, I can only play it 10% of the time if I want any type of reward for the time I put in.

First people are upset that you have these challenges, then they are upset over just having to play one game to move up and can only do so once a day, now its back to this and no one is ever happy. Personal problems are not game problems.
