just bought all the Halo Reach map packs 6 weeks ago for me and my brother. A friends also bought them all the same day, we play 1-3 hours a day and haven’t seen a single DLC map. Halo 3 has a playlist of them, why not reach?
Just wanted to warn everyone else from wasting money like I did.
All the DLC maps in Halo Reach are integrated into the existing playlists. The DLC maps only have a chance to show as a voting option if everybody in the game lobby has it. If just a single person doesn’t have any DLC, then the maps wont show (which even then is not very often). Unfortunately, many of the remaining Reach population doesn’t have the DLC, so chances of it showing are extremely slim. My opinion is that since 343 barely (if at all) support Halo Reach now, its more than likely that the game will receive no more updates to matchmaking or new playlists being added.
You are not the only person in this situation, as this applies to both Halo Reach and Halo 4. Chances are at this stage in Reach’s life, most people who want the DLC will have bought it, otherwise nobody else cares enough to pay for extra content. Your best bet is to party up with other DLC owners and then search. This way you know everyone in the game has the DLC in order for it to (possibly) show.
I know and it’s -Yoink-, with how much the three of us play we should have come across one game with a DLC map. It sucks they still let people but them when those maps will never see the light of day. We need to bad together and get them to change this

Splitting the population further with DLC-required playlists increases lobby wait times, and makes skill-matching and thus game experience worse.

They won’t change it. We had a dedicated DLC playlist in Reach and know what happened? No one played it.
I know the populations were relatively low, but there was still no point in removing it. It’s not like 343 would lose anything if they had kept it.
seen a list here that was posted several months back, it was someone collecting/making a list of everyone who had any or all of the DLC’s, might look through the old posts for it
You know they could make all the DLC free and make it mandatory for people to have it. That way everybody could play the DLC maps and they could put Anniversary BTB back in the mix

Yes… But what’s the deal with it? Why removing it? It doesn’t hurt anybody…
At least I waited until the DLC was 50% off before I made my purchase. It sucks that it rarely appears in TS because so few people have it. If MS is now in the habit of giving away free Games for Gold, they should extend the offer to DLC as well. It would be nice to play something other than the same 7 or 8 maps in TS.

This will never happen for 2 reasons:
343 has no say in what happens to the price of DLC once its released. They are simply paid by Microsoft to create the content. Anything that happens on the XBL Marketplace (such as promotions, discounts etc.) is controlled by the Marketplace team, a completely separate department of XBL. 343 has nothing to do with DLC when it is handed over, other than implementing it in game.
Microsoft has a strict DLC policy in place where any DLC with tied achievements cannot be free. There are some exclusions to this (such as Gears of War 1 who’s entire DLC is free), but these DLCs were made free before the policy took effect. Since all the DLC for Halo Reach and 4, plus Halo 3’s Legendary and Mythic map packs, have tied achievements they will not be free. Discounted in the future maybe, but not free.
I wish people would just download the maps. I really really really want to play on Breakpoint again.

343 should just make the reach dlc free now. If they haven’t purchased it by now they never will. People are more than likely to download it if it’s free and people who bought it will actually be able to play it.

Please look 4 comments above and read my previous post regarding this issue. It explains why this will never happen.
Cause the maps have been -Yoink- since Halo 3 and 343 doesn’t give a crap about “old” games
