And I want to own the game so later on I can play it if something changes gamepass is a good idea if you wanna play a game or try it out but if you like the game you buy it
It also had 2/3 of it’s content cut from it, including cutscenes from the trailers that are not present in game, such as the 3x red eyes reflected in Chief’s visor. There will be campaign expansions, this is a certainty. Hopefully they’ll be fairly regular and fairly large like Destiny’s are, especially if there is so much content left on the cutting room floor to pull from.
You are misleading everyone.
343 did not remove content just so they can sell more of it later. Developers often create more content than they can include in a final release due to bugs and other issues discovered during testing.
There are also internal issues, such as contractors who developed content and must leave the project when their contract expires. If no other resources are available to test, refine, and integrate that content, it might not be included in the production release.
The same thing occurs in the movie industry. Scenes are cut because they do not fit the story well, or the movie length may be considered too long for viewers.
As for Destiny, examine what happened with Beyond Light. One big expansion and then months of repetitive, mindless grinding with no significant new content added.
You have zero idea if that’s true or not. They very easily may have cut content to sell it as DLC down the road.
I thought Infinite’s campaign gameplay was a lot of fun. The story? Pretty lame.
Good short-term suggestion, but game pass is a money scheme that gets you. Most services even give you first month cheaper or a trial period, and that’s how they get you. Next thing you know, you’ve spent over $100 for something you don’t use or see value in.
So make sure you cancel right away if you don’t see the value in it.
Oh I’m not misleading anyone. I accept full well that content could have been cut for good reason and may not have been in a launchable state, whether that’s because it didn’t fit, or resources were diverted to focus on the smaller offering that we have being more polished, or a whole host of other reasons. I’m not at all insinuating 343 maliciously cut the game in order to sell it back to us later.
But what I’m certain of is that more content was planned and developed. And the results of that development time are still around, in trailers, in the developer’s harddrives and their storyboards, and it almost certainly will get used in some form. The openness of the campaign’s ending and the ten year plan they have virtually confirms this. And so looking forward you have to wonder how this will be delivered to us, and since we’ve had no roadmaps or even the vaguest announcement of post launch PvE content you have to assume it’ll be via paid expansions further down the road.
And we’ve seen this before. Destiny’s trailers were full of cut content. Some of this was unfinished and completely overhauled or never seen again (ie, cutscenes with Mara Sov’s brother in Old Russia). Others were very clearly used in future expansions, (ie scenes inside the dreadnought from the Taken King expansion, which was seen in footage from the initial Destiny gameplay trailer 27 months before the Taken King launched).
That’s what this thread is about. If like me you played both Destiny and Halo over the years, we’ve seen all of this play out before. So until we hear otherwise this is me telling you, this is what you should expect and be prepared for.
The lesson to be learned from Destiny 2 is to not get rid of half your games content and expect your fans to be ok with the original story no longer being playable
I’ll buy the campaign because I certainly see myself playing just Halo instead of the entire gamepass catalouge which requires me to keep subscribing to retain my library. I don’t like that. I want to be able to take hiatus and then come back without purchasing a sub in order to continue playing my game.
And for now, I can play my saved Campaign offline which I’m very happy about. The day I’m unable to continue my adventure offline is the day I stop buying Halo games.
This is why you can’t mention Destiny 2 in any community for it always leads to the exact same, annoying route to where people endlessly complain about how terrible it is.
Nah, the game is great, but some parts about it just straight up suck
That got M because of the one cutscene wher everyone disintegrates.
Yeah that’s really unfair. It’s been a bumpy ride for sure, but the sheer amount of content and tightness of Destiny’s gameplay is solid and I played it for a long time before leaving due to burnout. But I still know a few people who’re still keeping up with it and I’m honestly happy for them cause they are probably enjoying one of the most content filled fps games in recent memory. The mandatory grinds and constant need to update your weapons and armour are just a bit much in the long run I think.
It is expensive though, I’ve definitely treated it and would describe it as a subscription based game and not a single purchase, so if Halo is to follow that format it’s definitely worth baring in mind.
End of the day though what we really need is way more information about wtf Halo’s future is gonna look like XD
I can understand the burn-out for this game; I dropped Warframe because of it: staying in a clan that relies on your participation every few days, the need to grind for better weapons by farming resources, the waiting games for everything… I got sick of it after a bit. New War was a good story, but I’m waiting till’ they do their next expansion for me to come back. For now, Halo, D2, and others will fill that gap.
How do you play it offline ? It says buy the game on my screen but i already spend 70€.
I was in the same boat until this super incomplete campaign dropped, for a full $60. Then I realized there was no way that anything they release in the future will be worth the price.
Steam magic maybe?
I simply booted my game with my Internet disconnected and I could access my saved game.
Im on xbox thats why asking.
The Destiny franchise always had problems. Then D2 became progressively worse after Activision left. Many veteran players like myself (10,000+ hours played) are abandoning the game. The difference can be observed in the forums where there are fewer posts compared to months ago.
Everytime I hear the argument for not getting Gamepass being “I’d rather own my games” I laugh in “Microsoft owned IPs are basically permanently on there, and there are enough being added every year to more than pay for your Gamepass”.
Seriously, Gamepass is financially equal to buying 2 Microsoft owned games a year, but you get a bunch more for free.
It’s also loaded with excellent games you might not try otherwise. Comes with and Xbox Live Gold subscription build in, and with Ultimate (which isn’t a huge price hike at all) you get PC Gamepass and EA play as part of the deal.
The only way to get a better deal than Gamepass is to pirate your games or exclusively buy when deals roll around at 80-90% off years after a game has become irrelevant. The only reason not to get in on it is if you literally don’t play any MS IPs.
I bought the campaign cause I thought it was gonna be like every other campaign brilliantly crafted and freely able to play it when ever, wherever, but ohh no you need a connection to boot the campaign
