Don't build maps with Sprint in Mind

See how small a great map like guardian is?! wanna know why all the “small” maps in Reach were actually not that small in comparison to the “small” maps of H2 and H3 like Lockout, Guardian, and Foundry!?[The original foundry] It is because these maps are too small for someone speeding around. These are all absolutely GREAT maps, but because of the inclusion of sprint in the sandbox they would be obsolete in a Vanilla Halo 4 game with sprint.

In these 3 maps it was very easy to get to cover if you were in the right parts of the map. In a Halo with sprint, however, you could be in dead center of the map, getting shot by someone else, and can still have a chance of running to cover. In Halo reach a lot of the maps had to be more wide open with longer spaces because of the already non-beneficial to gameplay sprint feature.

I don’t mean to be the guy who, yet again, posts about sprint, but I am expecting to be able to play several playlists that don’t have sprint in them. But if every map is already built around sprint than it will never be the same and all the maps will be Lame forged maps instead of polished maps created by the devs :frowning:

Do we Halo fans that love the Halo trilogy gameplay really deserve this!? Please make maps that work very well for Classic gameplay, just like they did in H1, H2, and H3. I will be very sad, and Halo 4 will lose all of its colors if this doesn’t happen.

I didn’t even read your post because I just quickly want to say that if Sprint is a universal feature across the entire game, then the maps will be designed with it in mind. Also, even if some sort of Classic playlist didn’t have Sprint, the maps will still be made for the more popular design, which is Sprint-incorporated gameplay.

I agree with this. Giving us map’s based around sprint to use in any classic playlist’s would be rather pointless.

If you’re right and that does happen, I will feel like 343I took the trust I had in them, and then just took a piss on me afterwards and told me to get lost.

And subsequently, 343’s piss will be lapped up by 10 more Bandwagon Gamers who love Halo 4’s changes.

This means a lot to me and many many other fans.

All I was asking for was some maps for classic games, and some smartass tells me this bandwagon gaming -Yoink-. Sprint is nothing but a gimmick. I doubt anyone will purchase the game because it has dumb sprint which DOES NOT BELONG IN HALO AT ALL!

It takes the fun out of gameplay and pvp combat, I doubt bandwagon gamers want that. They say they want sprint because “It speeds up gameplay” and since they are used to it… But they don’t know how Halo gameplay works, and I don’t expect them to. But I was expecting 343i to take this into thought and remove sprint.

Now that we have sprint, I am highly disappointed. But mon dood, gimme a break. All I want is about 6 maps for classic gameplay.

But that’s exactly the reason why Bandwagon Gamers will like Sprint. They’re influenced by Call of Duty, and CoD is very fast-paced, ergo, Bandwagon Gamers like fast-paced gameplay.

People say they are looking for fast paced gameplay. What they don’t know is that at the core if it all, they are just looking for fun. and Sprint doesn’t make Halo much more fun. Just frustrating at times.

If they want to speed up gameplay, sprint is not the way to do it

You’re unfairly grouping the Sprint mechanic in with Reach’s poor balance. Reach’s maps and gameplay equally weren’t balanced enough for any of the AA’s that were haphazardly thrown into the game.

With proper map + weapon balance, Sprint can be a positive addition to the Halo formula.

Good point m8. Maybe sprint won’t be so bad after all.

I just hope they make a map like guardian or lockout again. With several passages leading to a center platform, and two levels. and also, keeping it small

Why not just build some larger maps/maps with greater layers and depth for sprint and then some smaller maps for game modes that don’t involve it?

Oh look ANOTHER thread about Sprint. What are the odds?
Starting today I’m going to start counting how many of these damn threads I see.

No matter how much they try to fix sprint, it can never be as balanced as not having sprint at all. And that is fact.

> No matter how much you try to fix sprint, it can never be as balanced as not having sprint at all. And that is fact.

Oh so you’ve played the game have you? Oh, wait, you haven’t. You can’t say something’s unbalanced if you haven’t played. And Reach shouldn’t be used as an example because we don’t know if they’re even similar.

I’m not complaining about sprint. I’m just saying I want some maps that work very well with classic gameplay.

I never said it was unbalanced, like Reach, because that is taking it to an extreme level. But even with all the tweaking and time you can put into sprint it can never be more balanced than no-sprint. Even if you stop when getting shot at, and people can’t run away because of that, there are still several issues more that needs to be taken care of before you can say it is balanced.

That is actually opinion. Reach gave us a poor first impression of Sprint, but it can be implemented in a balanced way.

What is not possible is for the changed formula to be identical to the old Halo formula, which is more methodical and slower-paced. But the old Halo formula is also tried and true, which is why fans are naturally afraid of changing a good thing.

Need more small maps the only default maps reasonable to 1v1 on are zealot and asylum and they still are kind big :stuck_out_tongue:

Want to explain why? I mean I am use you understand all the balancing stuff devs can do.

Why would you build a map with sprint not in mind, when sprint is very likely to be a default feature in Halo 4? that would be breaking huge map control barriers and cause way too many problems, it’s like trying put a cheetah in a dog kennel, it just wouldn’t work.
