Don't bother no-scoping with the Binary Rifle

appearently its not a one shot kill, in the new Vidoc an elite minor survives a body shot.

> The narrowing of the skill gap continues. You don’t even need headshots for sniper insta kills now.

… no

> appearently its not a one shot kill, in the new Vidoc an elite minor survives a body shot.

Well elites may be stronger than Spartan IV’s, it’s a one shot in multiplayer for sure.

Please explain how a sniper that kills with one shot to the body is NOT narrowing the skill gap.

if its extremely hard to aim with, alot harder then the regular sniper and has less clip size and ammo then that somewhat balances it out.

I remember reading just like the Boltshot, the Binary Rifle is a multi-purpose gun, a shotgun up close and a one hit sniper at long range.

Would explain the large reticule.

Hard to aim? Even with zero aim assist it is OP and promotes unskilled gameplay.

why do you care? shorely if your so good at the game you want a challenge? i dont under stand you guys, if your so good, why cant you adapt, you need to play everything in a certain way to be good, but thats not been good at the game, im not the best, but i can adapt, and thats why im better than most MLG guys, they need to play in a very certain way to be good, i dont there fore i win…

If its hard to aim then it requires more skill to land shots on target AKA making for more skilled gameplay

which rewards skill and punnish lack of skill.

how ever, i don’t know its full implementation, it could be easy to aim with which would be trouble some

Are you saying it is hard to body shot your team mate with a sniper in Reach? It most certainly is not.

Not this again…

It’s not about good players “adapting”, whatever that means. It’s about the fact that lesser-skilled players are given increasingly easier opportunities to get kills against other players.

Please stop using “adapt”. Certainly if all you play is Infection, and all “MLG players” play is MLG, you could probably beat them in Infection the majority of the time. That’s not what we’re talking about.

OT: I wondered whether there was a smaller reticle in those poor-quality videos. Thanks for clearing it up, and I’m glad there isn’t one.

How is it OP and promotes unskilled gameplay?? The weapon is a one shot kill. and has a huge reticle while not scoped in. Kinda seems like it’s balancing it out. And plus, there is no garante that you will even get the binary rifle to play with for any game. just like the sniper. If you ask me, the binary rifle seems like a promethean stand point of the spartan laser. 1sk anywhere.

NO, you need certain conditions and rules to play well aka halo 2, but this is not and if you cant play halo reach or halo 4 or what ever they you are not good at the game, if you can only play with 1 rule set then you cannot play the game, its like if im amazing at swat but nothing else i cant say im MLG and sick at halo, cus i can only play swat, and that is what you guys do all the time

I don’t remember reading one post in this thread where someone was bragging about how good they are.

because there has already been one shot kill weapons in all the halo games to date your talking like a power weapon is a new thing
if this is your logic we should also take out the scorpion and rocket launcher

Most Power Weapons are incentives to promote map movement. Rockets and Sword were rewards that granted the user the ability to insta kill. The Sniper was the one unique power weapon that actually took some skill to get that one shot kill. I just disagree with the mentality of dumbing the game down and a Sniper that kills in one body shot is the embodiment of that mentality to me.

your talking like the sniper is gone from the game it still has its uses and also appears much more commonly then the binary rifle
the binary serves its purpose of being a weapon you fight to keep out of the hands of the enemy team just like any power weapon

I think there’s probably something about this weapon we don’t know. If I were designing the sandbox at 343, I would make it so between the trigger pull and the shot being fired, there’s a very short (but predictable) delay, and I would make it non-hitscan. If it performs like a UNSC sniper, but with one bodyshot kills, I’ll be disappointed, but I think 343i has put more thought into it than that.

> When it’s not scoped in, the Binary Rifle’s reticle is enormous. It’s only the 4 angled lines on the corners with no smaller crosshair in the middle to help with aiming. As a result, if you manage to pause the video right at the same moment he fires the rifle, you can see the tracer of the shot heading down-right in the “strike zone”, meaning those angled lines are the size of it’s bloom. The smaller reticle only appears when he zooms in.
>
> A better view of the zoomed-in Binary Rifle can be seen here in the Vidoc just released.

Depending on the range, correct. However short range no-scopes won’t be problem. Maybe even mid-range no-scopes might not be a problem. It’s the long-shot no-scope the giant reticle is avoiding… That can be given to the BeRi or Sniper.
