DON'T be that guy

Recently in Halo, and in gaming as a whole, I have notice an increase of less than desirable behavior in online matchmaking. Tea bagging, dancing, and other forms of harassment (yes, it is considered harassment) has been occurring more recently in gaming. I for one am disgusted by this behavior.

I see it most in Halo, but destiny is a close second. You get a kill and feel the need to celebrate or bag the enemy corpse. Well to you sir I say a big -Yoink- you. Why am I so strong. Towards this? Eight years in the military has shown me what true war and rules of engagement are. Now I’m not comparing these games to actual war. Obviously dancing on a killed insurgent is beyond looked down upon, and gaming is just virtual, but it is the behavior and mindset I cannot stand.

By going forth with these actions you are saying “I am of a higher status than you because I beat you in this specific match up.” You are saying you are above another person. It is not okay. You are saying “I need a small ego boost for my already low self esteem because I don’t feel good enough about myself.” People play these games to have fun with friendly competition. By acting hostile, you are directly ruining the gaming community. And over what? It’s a -Yoinking!- game for Christs sake? Do you think anyone gives a -Yoink- that you went on a 20 kill streak in destiny? Or just completely out shot someone? No! No one gives a flying -Yoink-. So why are you degrading the other person? Maybe they are brand new to the game or don’t have the time or resources to play as much as you.

So as I close this I ask you to reevaluate how you play. If you aren’t one of those people and are like me to just have a good time then good for you. Keep it up. It’s a game. But if you are a tea bagger or dancer or trash talker, I suggest you change. Because those habits carry on to the real world. And the real world is MUCH less forgiving than a stupid game. Rethink the way you play. Respect the players.

That’s a fine rant and all, but why would you post this in a sections of the forums for discussing the Halo story?

True dat lol, but good points were made.

How is this considered harassment? God forbid I dance in a game, oh the horror. I play games with my friends all the time and we -Yoink!- each other (and enemys in matchmaking, and get teabagged ourself) and dance. (I presume you mean just crouching up and down while hitting our gun randomly?) I just do not see a problem with it.

This would put you as the offending party in this case.

I honestly never found it offensive, I honestly thought it was just a fun thing to do in game.

Not really sure why this is in the universe section, nor am I really sure why you’d take this so seriously when, in your own words, this is just a game.

I don’t see how this is a Universe topic, but tea bagging isn’t harassment. If you don’t wanna get bagged, either don’t play or don’t die. They say the online matchmaking is unrated for a reason.
