The title said it all really, I don’t want a repeat of the whole Helioskrill thing - yeah I don’t have it, and now it’s easier for me to get it, but the point of Helioskrill/Achilles, is that they’re a testament to the players that have pulled their fingers out, and gone the distance. (Sounds a bit dramatic for a game but bear with me!)
I feel sorry of the people who completed all the legendary campaigns and got screwed over - now people can get as good - if not better looking variants by getting sucked into the Microsoft “give me money policy” or getting lucky. Hell, I believe that Helioskrill should be a Legendary MCC 1-4 campaign unlock exclusively.
Hopefully someone from 343 will take note of this, and they won’t make the same mistake
Feel free to point out your opinion in the thread!
I hope they do actually. All this farming and company obsession with stupid pixels is ruining the game. It would be awesome just to spite the basement dwellers that can’t come up for air until they farm their precious pixels.

A bit dramatic, but tough to dispute.
Unfortunately, the Achilles armor has essentially become “The Scarlett Letter” within Halo 5. The overtly unsporting behavior (a.k.a. farming) that has been consistently displayed by several Spartan Companies while they pursued it has permanently tarnished the accomplishment. Introducing some Achilles variants would probably help by diluting the reputation that currently comes along with it.

i dont understand why everyone is hating on the way to get Achilles. Everyone loved the vidmasters and strove for recon in halo 3. Once recon was made readily available to everyone in the proceeding halo games, almost no one uses it or even cares about it. I personally commend 343 for keeping an armor set aside for those who are passionate about the game and need to put in the work to get the armor, not just pay for gold packs until they get the armor
I’d assume that once Halo 5 has no new content updates all the special unlocks will end up added to Req store to be awarded at the mercy of RNG.
It’s one proven way to keep people around a little while longer once there’s nothing new coming.

“Everyone” isn’t. On the contrary, if your Spartan Company managed to earn the Achilles armor without farming, you deserve a tremendous amount of credit for the time and effort that it took to reach that milestone. However, at the moment there isn’t a group that has unlocked Achilles without doing that.
The blatant “Unsporting Behavior” that comes with farming is not the only way to get Achilles.

proof? stop accusing every spartan company of that. achilles is much more popular to see than farming was so i suggest you not blame people for that. I know of companies that did not farm for it. farming is almost non existent. Farming is merely a term that has progressed from literally being pushed out of your core for the duration of a whole game while that team does not attack it at all to a term that noobs use to compensate for being bad at the game. You make me sick

My Company hasn’t farmed at all and we’re extremely close… in fact if we see farmers we remove them at once.

I am referring to the full set of Achilles armor, including the helmet. The last that I heard, only Whiskey had both pieces and they already have several members who admitted to farming along the way.

Yes, I absolutely am bad at the game! However, I am a 12-year Halo veteran, still a big fan of the series, and I actually do have a firm grasp on the proper definition of farming. Claiming that it is almost non-existent is naive, at best. A few weeks ago, my team was farmed four times in our last five games to end the evening. If you had been victimized by “Unsporting Behavior” to that degree, I’m confident that your venting would be aimed in the opposite direction.

That is certainly good to hear! But although there are great Spartan Companies that have pursued the Achilles armor admirably like yours and the Halo Wheelmen, the ones that were much more “aggressive” like Whiskey and PartyUpGaming already set a precedent that has attached an unfortunate stigma to the armor.
on the helioskrill topic it was announced at release it would be available through reqs at a certain time and date, everyone knew up front it was not exclusive
now to the achilled, 343 honestly just might make variants. IDK how many ppl saw the recent post of how a certain clan kicked out 85 members just as they were 3 commendations left to getting the armour. well that leader then went hopped in a new clan got the armour and now ( due to reports and what not the reamining 15 got disbanned so 99 ppl were left clanless) i was one of the unfortunate ones who had to find a new home. idk how the others faired some might have found clans that are close or extremely far away.
point being how is it fair to the 99 guys who busted butt to try and get the armour get so close just to have some jerk off ruin it for everyone? that clan is not the only clan that has done this either. numerous clans are kiccking out their members. to many ppl should have gotten the armour and now dont. who should they have to earn it twice?
im all for earning armours but the achilles has brought the worse out in ppl and the only ones to blame would be the community for acting like savages over it not 343
I’d be fine with getting variants by doing the other company commendations. But no, it should never be put into the REQ system. My company and I didn’t farm to get it, and I’d rather not have people who are lazy to put in the effort get it.
