It honestly feels like so many battle royal fans think 343 is sitting there staring at a button marked “Deploy Battle Royal Mode” and just… Don’t press it. Not all, but some of the discourse feels this way. As though the mode can just be deployed in a moment without any further consideration and have no other impact on the game if you don’t want to play it.
The fact of the matter is that any new game mode will take development resources away from other parts of the game to implement. It takes time to develop, time to test, time to refine. I don’t want time taken away from Halo’s bread and butter gamemodes to jam the latest flavour of the month into the game.
Furthermore if some portion of the population goes to playing battle royal, there will be less people in other gamemodes. That can really hurt across the board.
And finally, there are already so many battle royal focused games. Can’t you go and play those? Does everything have to be homogenised and offer exactly the same content, just with a different skin? Can’t Halo specialise and refine other game modes rather than spreading itself thin and having to squeeze in absolutely everything every other game already does?
It is as though you walk down a street full of burger joints, see one tea room and immediately spout, “boy, wouldn’t it be great if they served burgers?”
I’d say give us the tools to be able to make it in forge and custom games (as well as old modes like invasion, warzone, etc.) rather than have an official br mode.
You’re literally dropped into the match with a primary and secondary weapon and you know where all the weapons spawn and when. What are you talking about?
I’m sure you realize that something of this magnitude would take a lot of effort for the developer. We’re already not getting forge and co-op at launch. So, how does it hurt having it? Use that big brain and think of what else could suffer.
I would definitely play it. Might not be my primary game mode, but seems like there is potential for a pretty unique take on it. Traditional MP would need to still be fully supported though, so would need a LOT of resources
Stay away from BR. BRs have become so boring because every game has it these days… we need something new and something different so it stands out from the rest. But it needs to be good.

TDM is easily that.
As for wanting it not now anyway.
I’m not big on BR but I definitely don’t want it being a priority given the sorry state of the current map pool.
Btb and arena maps.can be used later for the BR map like forge World or blackout/warzone.
But it wouldn’t be as easy to flip assets the other direction.
