I’m saying this because we heard plenty of times that the next Halo game will build off of Halo 5’s gameplay. Now what does that mean exactly? We still don’t know, but don’t expect 343i to pull a 180 in terms of gameplay. If anything the most likely thing to happen is the removal of sprint, ground pound, and spartan charge but that’s maybe a 20% chance that it will be like this.

I highly doubt sprint will be removed, ground pound and spartan charge however, might get the axe…

Yeah that’s why I add the 20% chance. I honestly don’t expect them to remove any of the movements. Sprint is the more likely though because that’s the #2 complaint modern Halo gets, first being the art-style.
Oh, don’t worry. I’m not.
Why, do u want it to be diferent from 5, or be more like 5? Either way each game is diefernt from how the last plays, both in game play and features. For all we know we will get dual weilding and jet packs, no one knows.
We do know, that we will get to find out in the beta, which is confirmed will hapen.
I can see SC & GP gone, I don’t think sprint is going anywhere. Clamber kind of replaced crouch jumping, so id like to see that gone. I enjoyed being able to do certain jumps with the crouch jump, added more satisfaction then just clicking A.

I wrote this because I see a lot of people saying that because 343 brought back the old art-style (which isn’t even the old art-style it’s a combo) that they are bringing back the classic gameplay. I’m just trying to keep everyone’s expectations low and not overhype things. Just a fellow Halo fan looking out for the community.

I never really liked crouch jumping. I mean crouch jumping is still possible in Halo 5. Maybe they can do something like vaulting and if you are jumping/in the air you can only clamber from the ground up.

For sure its still possible, i guess there is just no need for it really anymore

The only reason why I think GP and SC are gone because they removed it from Arena MLG playlist. And I’ll tell you what, its amazing not to have it.
I don’t really understand why people hate sprint, been around a long time and I never once thought sprint should be gone in 4/5. But, personally I’d take Halo 5 sprint and limit it so its not a “forever” sprint. Kinda do what Halo Reach did, I think that would please both sides of classic/modern but I’m not a game developer so what do I know.
If history has any lessons about the evolution of Halo game play then it would be that one thing is kept from the last game. Halo 4 kept sprint as the carry-over from Reach. Halo 5 kept thruster as the carry-over from 4. Infinite, I’m guessing, will keep sprint (in its currently nerfed form - maybe nerfing it even further), will keep thruster, and then will choose one of the extra SAs to keep into the bargain. Pound seems to me an unlikely candidate. Clamber seems like the obvious choice, but as xStrangesThings pointed out, it’s a pale shadow of crouch jumping, and why make your game easier to play when you could make it harder instead? Out of what’s left - slide and charge - I imagine that a nerfed version of charge may well make the cut for the next game. I know that’s not what anyone wants to hear, and nobody would be happier than me to see it gone completely, but it makes the most logical sense unless you count its cheap effect on game play as illogical. If they find a way to lessen that cheap effect even by just a little then you still have a tool that makes sense in the context of sprint + thrust, and it gives the new kids something they can do until they figure out how to aim the soulless weapons in this game. Or put plasma grenades in the default loadout.

Thruster wasn’t in Halo 4, If you referring to Thruster pack, thats not the same Halo 5’s thruster. Halo 5’s is in first person, your character can still be controlled while doing this and it also pushes your character farther. Its also used by all spartans, and is not an loadout armor ability

Sprint was also a different animal from Reach to H4, and again from H4 to H5, but the basic principle remained the same, and that’s also how it worked with thruster pack in H4 evolving into H5 thrusters. Each started as a loadout ability and evolved into a permanent feature for every player at all times, and each had differing characteristics with different implementations, but to my way of thinking sprint is sprint no matter which game we’re talking about, and the same goes for thrusters. And, like I said, I’ll lay odds we’ll see an “evolved” version of spartan charge in the next game.

Yea, but our thruster in 5 is obviously inspired, and slightly nerfed, from the thrust in 4 and the dodge in Reach…
Spartan Charge actually reminds me of H4’s thrust animation.
To answer the original question, I don’t think we’ll have a classic game, but more likely we’ll get a couple abilities removed and added.

it takes away the statisfaction.

Clambering and stabilization seemed to eliminate crouch jumping and grenade jumping entirely. I’d like to see both old school jumping methods return in Infinite.
Its obvious that one should not expect anything really. I dont expect anything of the gameplay, I merely hope.
And where do people pull off these random numbers/estimates? when there is nothing to back up the numbers they really are just pointless and a waste of space in posts.
I feel bad for the people expecting it to have classic gameplay just because it has a classic inspired art style. They’re just setting themselves up for disappointment. Hoping is fine but you shouldn’t expect it.

Wow i completely forgot about grenade jumping. There used to be some cool jumps you could pull off with grenades & crouching
