dominion ruined

well they meddled with all the other play lists and I was hoping they wouldn’t touch dominion. ok there was a lot of power weapons but the pace, balance and map flow was all fine. the speed of the game was exciting and most of all it was great fun without any confusion.

now it’s a luke warm stale boring version of its former self. the gameplay has deteriorated the exciting pace has gone and with it the enthusiasm. it’s such a shame these changes have taken place to bring in players who never played it often. such changes will not bring a population spike at all. dominion heads are scratching their heads to why any changes were needed - on what basis are these decisions made?

lockdown is nice to have added but as expected a huge frag spam fest. arm pickup and explosives equals win.

such a shame 343. why aren’t the players who invest so many hours into match making speaking up or asked before changes are made? who are these changes attempting to bring back into the playlists?

You are misinformed. The changes werent made to “bring in players who never played”, this was not a part of their reasoning behind the change.

What their reasoning was, was this: Dominion needed a change. Moving power weapons OUTSIDE the bases was done for a reason, as it was too easy to cap a base and hold it and sit on the weapons. Now teams have to coordinate and make a decision - do we hold pact or do we make an ammo/weapon run. Its turned it into a more team based gametype that rewards strategy and coordination, no sitting on a rocket respawn. There was no risk once a base was acquired, as you were spoon fed power weapons and vehicles to hold said bases. T

There was little balance once bases were capped because teams not only had advantageous positions within the base, but they also got power weapons delivered inside as well. You literally never had to leave the base. This way keeps the game moving at a faster pace IMO. And the overall balance is superior - Both teams have equal chance to gain power weapons, while those who hold bases are rewarded w ammo dumps for their stater weapons.

Now teams must communicate and take calculated risks in order to continue to hold bases, as weapons outside the spawns now mean attackers are a threat. All you are given inside the bases are ammo dumps for loadout weapons. This in turn has created a better balance.

There’s a Dominion feedack thread right here.

that’s all fair comment and can be adapted to no probs. in its former manifestation with coordinated attacks it was possible to flush out bases with camping power weapon whores inside easily.

I think what i need to say they should at least and with slayer big team leave the option to vote for the former game type too.

I.e classic, heavies and a third option for dominion that would be lockdown.

at least then it is then evident to see who’s voting what and make any further decisions based on that.

Being able to flush them out is irrelevant, it led to unbalanced gameplay that gave the defenders entirely too much of an advantage. It is inherently easier to set up a strong defense, as opposed to coordinating a good offense. And two teams of equal ability, the one with access to power weapons, at their feet, will never be flushed from a base. Especially given you have to traverse open land to arrive at said base. It tipped the scales too far for the defenders.

Now, both sides need to coordinate attacks and movements, both have a number of factors to weigh, leading to more balanced, and infinitely more strategic, gameplay.

As for allowing a vote for the former, wont happen now that CSR and skill based ranking is part of the mix. In order to gain accurate rankings in regards to skill players need to be playing with the same parameters, so they arent going to keep two different forms of the same play type in there.

So you are basically complaining that you can’t use the rocket launcher 24/7

The only thing I agree about your post is lockdown being a grenade fest.

> The only thing I agree about your post is lockdown being a grenade fest.

what he said.

lol the previous dominion was a joke, it was only for people who liked to camp and stat. it was less about the actual objective, and more about the power weapons that u get from the objective. incineration cannon and binary rifle galore, seriously. now i might actually try it out

Are you saying that when I go to cap an enemy base now there isn’t going to be the rocket guy just waiting for me to enter? He’s actually going to have to leave the base in order to do so?

Sounds like a positive change to me.

The community asked for these changes in the official Dominion thread, and have been complaining about excessive power weapons in Dominion in various other threads for a long time.

Yes. Ordinance drops now provide ammunition to loadout weapons or grenades of some kind. Power weapons have designated spawn points around the map and run on spawn timers. Meaning if someone inside a base wants those rockets on exile, he is going to have to leave and go across the map into the Banshee hangar to get them.

However, it was still easily the most fun Id had in awhile. Even with randoms.

People felt they couldn’t get the most out of dominion due to the over use of power weapons. I was one of them. I cannot wait to play dominion again.

Haha. Lockdown is a blast. They just took the best part of Dominion (fighting over mid) and made it more about skill then who has the best power weapon. The nades are easy enough to dodge if your alert. Might pay to use a thruster pack though I guess.

I love Lockdown and the changes to Dominion – the gametypes are much more about skill, strategy, and teamwork. But how am I supposed to get Ordinance weapon commendations now?

Action Sack - Fiesta would be a great place to start.

I’ve only played two games - but they seemed fun.

I agree with most of that, but not the highlighted. Some players play more Slayer Pro than others, and the Objective Playlist had several different type of games, yet in each case they had one CSR.
