which is more important to you when you log on to halo 5 (or any shooter for that matter) i understand the “i have the most fun when i am doing well ;)” but do you really have fun? because for me, doing well sucks the fun out of the game and it turns into me pulling my hair out rather quickly. just curious what others mindsets are
Kind of both. The better I do the more my work pays off, the worse I do the more I get frustrated but in the end I can still have fun even when I lose. What really decides if I have fun is just the game itself and how it plays/functions. I won’t have fun if I dislike the gameplay so much or it glitches so much that it just isn’t worth the time making it work.
One shouldn’t force themselves to play through something they don’t enjoy win or lose.

You could have made this into a poll.
But anyway for arena I focus on doing well while in warzone I prefer to have a good time and see how many kills I could get or what tactics I could use.

How is that even possible? So you are only having fun when you are sucking?
I don’t only have fun when I’m doing well, but it sure helps.
I don’t care too much about winning I just like to do stupid and wacky things.

i need to get that painted above my TV lol. i enjoy games with medium to high TTK, because i feel both parties had enough time to process they are in a gunfight. win or lose, as long as i don’t go 4-35. i still can say good game and leave with a smile on my face because the game allowed me to try my best.
games like cod and titanfall 2 and their 3 shot kill nonsense actually brings me physical stress. **but i always guilt trip myself into playing them.**and then comes in the K/D stat tracking, i am not a big fan of either, i float around a .98 in all my shooters, it’s feels the least stressful for me, (of course i would like a 1 or above) but halo 5 and gears i had a 1.3 at the start, and again it just wasn’t funthanks for the pro tip though.
Kind of both. I’d say doing well takes priority because most of the time I’m doing well I’m having fun.

what i mean is, i have MORE fun floating around 1.0 K/D each game, then i do when i shoot for the big 1.4 K/D per game. sucking to me is like 4-15(not every fun), doing decent (my.this is okay zone) is minium negative 2 on the kill spread. so if i go 8-10, wasn’t a great game for me, but i don’t feel like i sucked it up, but i obviously know i probably could have done a bit better, but i can look at my stats and not want to break my TV over a negative 2 K/D. back when this game first came out, i was up in the 1.4 range, carrying teams and all that “leet” stuff, but all i ever wanted to do while having that high of a K/D was rip my hair out.
Personally, I like the stress of the Arena/ranked play. To me, that’s what I like about Halo. It’s “serious business” to me when I play. I want to go positive every game. I want to win every game. The closest I come to “playing Halo for fun” is Firefight, and even then I want to win every game I play.
As others have said, it’s kind of a mix. I suppose not doing well only becomes tedious when you’re being completely destroyed, or you’re in an unfair situation.

Teabag solves everything!
I much prefer having fun over doing well. As long as I get at least 5 kills per game, I don’t care if I loose so long as the enemy players don’t spend the entire match camping or spawn trapping.
I have the most fun when I’m doing well. Whether or not I enjoy a bad game depends on how bad it is. I just checked my arena K/D and I might have to stick to Warzone only until Halo 6.
It’s 1.17

If you really want to get crazy, set up an open session of “splatter monkey” in Customs with the highest player count and round limit (25).
It’s chaotic and hilarious AF.

When you want to do well, you’re naturally going to be more competitive and H5 matching you with people around your skill level will make you even more competitive because your opponents are going to be able to counter your competitiveness if they’re trying.
For me, this game can be too frustrating to be fun.
Having fun, bar none.
Doing well helps in that regard, though.
I play to have fun, but if I’m not doing well then I’m not really having much fun. IMO they both almost go hand in hand to a certain extent. That’s just me though.
I have fun in tight, competitive & frustrating games where your hands are sweaty and you just want to throw your controller through your monitor. Love those games.
I’d say they are the same when I’m having fun with some thing I get good at it but when I get bored of it it becomes more difficult.
I have fun when I do well.
The rush of being on a high kill streak and knowing it could end in an instant but trying your hardest to not let that happen resulting in more kills… it’s fun.
I’ve been on a high kill streak before got too bloodthirsty and when I finally died I was so relieved I could feel… throbbing or something? I don’t know how to explain it. It’s the combination of adrenaline and slowed breathing just all released at once
