The two main expectations that belong in a Halo game, co-op campaign and forge aren’t coming anytime soon. This is a huge bummer, especially forge. At least it’s been communicated to us, albeit a brief timeline of when we can expect these things to come.
For progression, not sure if you’re talking about battle pass progression or an overall progression. I think Battle pass progression is fine the way it is, personally. Overall progression is needed for this game, but it’s not a game breaker to me. The real issue I have with this game is the playlists, which should have shipped day 1. Thank god this we’re getting a proper slayer and swat playlist. I play with randoms a lot, and no one understands how to play objective in quick play.
My understanding is we’re getting one playlist called “slayer” which will include TS, SWAT, FFA, and Fiesta. This is another bandaid, not fully solving the problem. Before I go on, let me say that this is absolutely a step in the right direction and so much better than nothing, obviously. But imagine for a moment, you’re a SWAT fan, but you get put into Fiesta, literally the opposite of SWAT. Or perhaps all you want is FFA, but 3 out of 4 modes in the playlist are team-based. This is so bizarre to me.
SWAT is now called Tactical Slayer. But unfortunately I understand it like that too. One playlist for all Slayer gametypes. And I really hope they let us decide between the Commando Rifle or Battle Rifle for Tactical Slayer. (It’s the BR. Always and forever.)
And I think FFA with the current radar would be not as much fun as we remember it.
But in positive news. Played 7 Quickplay matches. 1 was horrible and not really playable due to lagging servers or whatever. 1 lagged a bit during the match. But the 5 other games were absolutely perfect connection wise. I am impressed.
If it stays like that I will buy the battle pass and the campaign.
So? People are working themselves up into a frenzy because they want their Spartan to look cool? Lol. Okay… It’s a video game. If you aren’t having fun just playing the game, then you’re just upsetting yourself over a video game.
Progression is important to the gameplay. It’s an external motivator that drives the core gameplay. Halo 2 even had a progression system. Without one, matchmaking can quickly get boring because you’re just repeatedly being thrown into a match with random people, which is quite the anti-social experience.
Now, let’s say I don’t care about accomplishing long term goals or being able to customise my Spartan to any capacity, what is my team doing? Challenges.
I can’t tell how many games have been ruined by people not playing the objective, or quitting because they need a specific game mode, or contributing nothing because they need kills with utility weapons. Even if I don’t engage with the progression system, I’m still negatively affected by the progression system.

It doesn’t matter what we like. 343 are doing bad practices. Wether you like it or not people are pointing it out and they are right about it. IDC how good the game is. It doesn’t warrant this launch. Take a step back and really see the big picture here. It’s not about me wanting thruster packs or you enjoying the campagin. It’s about 343 stripping everything away and it’s not the higher ups causing this. THEY ARE ALL CAUSING THIS. They all watch what goes on and stays silent about it.
If you don’t want to see the truth. That’s your choice.
I am very new to Halo, so I can only speak to my very short time of playing. The sprint seems to be a big topic amongst Halo players. My Husband has been at it since the original X-Box and Halo 1. I asked him what he thought and he didn’t mind, just something new that was added, but he did say that some hated it, some didn’t care. I play the MCC and Halo 5 and just use it as part of the game. This is what he did say though, the grapplehook is a massive change to gameplay. Taking a vehicle being part of it, he did add some other things I forget.

To be honest sprint isn’t a big deal for me either, but in competitive matches it is very annoying. The enemy can just run at mach 4 speed after you 1 shot him. The grapple shot even though its op, is still just a piece of equipment. You can always disable it in online if 343 decides to. Personally I think it’s fine for casual play.
I guarentee you if anything Microsoft were the ones who pushed this game to be a GaaS game. MS ceo said he doesn’t see playstation as a competitor anymore, rather companies like google and amazon with their game streaming service. This game is another push in a direction of always online, monetized games. I think we both can agree that’s not a good thing for games in the future. However to blame 343 for this decision is nonsense
Don’t be a fool. You just reverted back to what I warned you about. 343 and Microsoft are one in the same. Don’t ever think that there are " higher ups". They all made this game. Same as cyberpunk 2077. They are all responsible. You could give an excuse six ways to Sunday. Doesn’t change the fact that they didn’t speak out against this. There should be a 343 employee as mad as I am writing in this fourm as we speak. But they don’t have the guts to do it. I would gladly loose my job if they ment telling the truth.
Depends what you are referring to when you say stand up to. We all agree Halo infinite is lacking content. But what is there right now is the best experience to a Halo game we’ve had in a decade. Should they have released everything right away? Of course. But I would rather have a game that functions properly opposed to a game that as everything but is garbage.
