If you agree with this assessment of how bad the trolling situation is on BTB, please share your thoughts and help me tell 343i that dealing with this issue should be a high-priority.
Thanks to H4-mania, I have about 3 friends that still play Reach (out of 68, all met playing Reach). But even when we’re all on, we can rarely scrounge enough friends for a full BTB team.
We’ve all seen the occasional betrayer that can’t play without a sniper or other power weapons, and I can actually (somewhat) sympathize with the Dashboard-Quitters these days (since 343i has essentially let BTB degrade into a perpetual repetition of only 3 or 4 maps). But it seems to me that trolling is largely dictating the rules on BTB.
Obviously I need to make more friends that still play Reach, but that is much easier said than done when I am matched with randies that either quit, outright betray, or troll in ALMOST EVERY SINGLE GAME. Even if there is a potential friend on my randy-team, these trolls make it impossible to enjoy the game and spot honest teamwork because everyone is so pissed off.
So what’s the alternative for players like me? I’ve tried H4 and didn’t like it (because I’m not a huge CoD fan); I’ve rejected clans as pyramid schemes without the financial fraud attached, run by overzealous or power-hungry kids that couldn’t cut it in a street gang.
I haven’t seen this problem spread much into other lobbies, yet. But BTB is my first love, and 343i needs to know that trolling has become an epidemic under its watch. 343i needs to recognize that it is still ultimately responsible for the experience of players that prefer Reach.
Trolls find joy by ruining the enjoyment for others; they provide further evidence to maintain the Greater Internet F--Yoink!- Theory: Normal Person + Anonymity + Audience = Total F--Yoink!-.
However 343i is the only one that can really do anything about it. If it doesn’t, it may eventually find that trolls are the only ones left in its lobbies.
I’m experiencing this as well, as I don’t have many friends playing Reach these days.
There’s a lot of despicable behavior going around, and for whatever reason it’s infectious. I’ve never been betrayed for a sniper rifle, or tormented throughout a match by a teammate until recently. Half the time, I get the joy of booting them, but otherwise they get away with it without penalty.
I’m also noticing a lot of really young kids with starting ranks playing these days. They’re not usually the ones betraying people, as they don’t even know the power weapon spawns, but they’re a cancer in their own way by quitting, jumping off cliffs, quitting, going negative, quitting… you get the idea… 
Some playlists are better than others though, that is for sure. I’ve had decent luck with regular slayer using net filter options. I just wish I could play on the DLC maps every once in a while. I really miss Timberline, Highlands and Breakpoint.
if you want to start a btb team I am available in 2 weeks. I play most of the time halo 3, but I might want to try some halo reach again.

I haven’t seen that message. Regardless, My OP pleads for 343i to make this issue a high priority. Of course this is based on the assumption that 343 will reinvest some recourses to addressing Reach issues after H4 has been cleaned up.
If they don’t, then all pleas will fall on deaf ears.
I normally don’t even pick up the sniper rifle, it’s always gone before I get there. Problem solved? I just ride around in a ghost, minding my own business… squish giggle
EDIT: Oh whoops actually I HAVE been betrayed for the Sniper. The one time I picked it up and quickly sniped the enemy sniper then BAM beatdown. Not a nice reward. I booted that guys Yoink!
I agree 100%. I’ve had so many betrayals and trolls d***ing around recently. It’s especially annoying when you’re close to an inconceivable perfection and someone betrays you because they’re jealous!
It’s been hard to have a good time 'cause of all these -yoinks!- since Halo 4 came out

Sadly, I think I may stop playing Reach altogether sooner or later. I don’t want to, it’s a great game, but the population is dying (yeah, it would be ironic if I stop) and the majority of players are serious about playing anymore, just fooling around betraying and going -15 in the postgame stats

This pretty much sums up my long rant perfectly. I got on last night and hooked up with a friend who warned me that it had been an extra terrible night for trolls and noobs. Sure enough, he was right - I had enough after 2 games.
My buddy got booted from the first game because a troller stood right in front of my friend’s tank and let himself get run over. My friend didn’t even know what was going on b/c he was strafe shooting for the First Skrike while another troller was shooting him up to get the tank. Pretty sure the two were Tandem-Trooling, like its Halo’s special variation of synchronized swimming.
The second game was even worse. It only took one troller to get our Wraith blown up and cause our team to lose any chance of field control. Most bailed and within two minutes we were down to just 3 guys, while Mr. Troller tucked himself into a safe litle camp-hole.
That’s when I decided to call it quits for the night. What a waste of 30 minutes.
Suck it up its sometimes worse in halo 4 where you can destroy all your teams vehicles with people in them and not get a single betrayal.

What are you talking about? I’m not referring to a flawed boot system. I’m talking about the troll pandemic in BTB, and how these trolls (booted or not) are able to ruin a BTB game in only a few seconds.
I would highly doubt Reach will ever be a high priority until ten years from now when they update the graphics and reissue it (please please please) but seriously dude I think it’s over. Reach was probably my fav of the series MP-wise but it’s over. I played H4 for two weeks and went straight back to Reach but the lobbies are garbage now. I played strictly BTB and it’s now just the Hemorhage map which yeah its great but its not great 37 times in a row. And lately half of the players will either quit once it starts or rage betray until they get booted so now i’m stuck playin 14:30 minutes with 2 guys on my team on a map i’m sick to death of. With 343 already having removed so much from the playlists I would be confident in assuming Reach is dead to them. Reaach was Bungie’s baby, sure 343 helped on it but they are probably more interested in profiting and pushing H4 and the rest of the series from here out, Times change man, it is what it is. Business is business.
