Dog Tags: Work your way up the Hitlist of MP

These add nothing physical to gameplay, but make you a target in MP which will encourage competition.

You obtain them from the player you killed most in a match in Halo 4. When the game ends, you obtain your most killed enemy’s personalized Dog Tag will now be in your posession, for you to read at any time when looking at your Service Record. BUT, you only get to keep it if you win the game. Meaning, you cant dogpile on a single player.

An alternate idea(posted in this thread by community) is Dag Tag ranks. You take dog tags via assassinations. If you assassinate a guy, you get a bronze version of his tag. Do it twice to the same guy, get a sliver version. A third time, get gold. But so players dont focus on a single player and his tag, you ONLY get to keep your tags if you win the game.

The amount of different dog tags you’ve collected in your career will be displayed on your Service Record for the world to see, as well as 3 dog tags of your choosing that will have a player’s name displayed.

Players can customize their tag; It will display by default your GT, your emblem engraved into the tag, tag count, and your rank. You may write down a personalized slogan, your “job description”(soldier, merc, assassin, ninja, hitman, gangster, ect), and your preferred equipment.

With these, players would gain street cred. The more tags you have(especially special tags owned by 343 employees and popular “tag collecters”), the more players will attempt to take yours. Imagine a guy with tag count of 100,000, and his listed top 3 are all 343i Tags. Everyone would try to aim for the head, but theyd still have to kill eachother if they wanna keep em.

Of course, the collecting of these can be toggled for some MM playlists.
Thoughts?

This is one of the best ideas ive seen on this forum, if not the best…

I like this idea.

At first I thought you were trying to do a MW3 Kill Confirmed spin-off, but then I read the rest.

I guess it could work, and personalizing your dog tag would be fun.

Had to double-check to make sure I wasn’t on the Battlefield forums.

also, I’d rather not give out more reasons for people to gang up on others.

So it’s BF3’s dog tag system wit a competitive twist.

I think this is a pretty cool idea. It should be players you beat instead of players you assassinate though. Too many players would go for assassinations instead of trying to win.

That’s why some playlists wouldnt have the feature that allows you to take dogtags.

I like the dog tags idea!

I love this idea, but I think players should only receive the dog tags with melees (maybe?) and assassinations (or beat downs if Assassinations aren’t included).

If it were head shots (which is the most common method of killing in Halo) they wouldn’t feel as rewarding. Now if you were to sneak up behind someone who has a prestigious set of dog tags and perform a -Yoink!- assassination animation, whilst taking his/her dog tags, that would provide a great sense of reward and accomplishment.

Wow, a good idea for once. This should definitely be in H4, it should be assassinations.

Great idea! But head shots and assassinations seem to easy.

I saw this idea mentioned to be in Reach after the VGA’s, hopefully it will get to H4.

There should also be an achievement for killing a 343i employee

I love it but it should be assassinations only

or the person you killed most in the match like that whole nemesis thing

I think the Nemesis thing works best.

Otherwise you’d have people literally doing nothing but going for assassinations.

I propose that the person listed as your ‘killed most’ should be the dog tag you claim.

half of me likes it but half thinks stuff like this is kinda pointless

> half of me likes it but half thinks stuff like this is kinda pointless

In all truth, it kinda is.

But you could also say the same about customizing your armor or emblem. I mean, you’re still playing Halo regardless of aesthetic changes.

People like more customization, and I myself don’t play Halo to win or lose. Hell, when I go in to an objective game I don’t even play for the objective. I play for the blood. I would like to have a trophy from all of the players I’ve beaten.

Particularly if they’re a worthy opponent. I view the tags as both as trophy and honoring your rivals.

I can’t tell you how many games I’ve played where I’ve selected one guy in particular to hunt down. I like having a personal rival in a match, it’s easier in a team based game IMO. In Lone Wolves everyone is after whoever they can kill or cherry pick from.

This sounds like a good idea. However, I don’t think it should be headshots or assassinations, I think that you should only get a dog tag for the player you killed most in the game. Otherwise it’s too easy (headshots) or too ridiculous (assassinations).
