Doesn't allow crossplay

I’m on xbox series x and trying to invite my buddy who I shared the code with, he is on pc. He can join my lobby but everytime I start a training match it says It will leave the fireteam in order to continue…

Does this mean crossplay will not work?

Has anyone played with someone on a different system?

It has nothing to do with crossplay. Training mode and Weapon Drills can only be done solo.
