Does Zeta Halo not have a gravitational anchor?

What the titles says. Halopedia doesn’t mention one either.

it does. we saw master chief jump in the trailer and it was the same 7 ft jump he always did.

I think we’re misunderstanding each other. When I say “gravitational anchor”, I mean does the Zeta Halo orbit a planet? They would need these to keep them from just drifting away into space. Installations 4 and 5 had one. There doesn’t seem to be a planet in Zeta Halo’s skybox.

if i could delete my comment I would but its a good question. I am certain at the end of H5 there was no planet in the fov tho. It probably explains why this ring was hard to find since nobody needed to go into the vacuum of space for anything.

The ring is different from the other 6, since it’s from the original array. So maybe it doesn’t need an anchor. I just wonder how a day-night cycle is gonna work on a ringworld that isn’t orbiting a planet.

i mean a suns all they need

a suns all they really need right? The force of that is what spins our planets around.

Pull out a flashlight and a ring. Shine the flashlight on the ring and then spin the ring spin the ring slowly perpendicular to its main axis (like a coin on a table), observe the shadows on the ring.

The planet is pretty much the only visible object on screen other than the Halo ring.Perhaps we just haven’t seen any footage where the camera is pointing in the correct direction to see a planet in the sky?
343 might also want to keep the planet under wraps in case it gives away too much story. If Cortana (or other) moved the Halo into Earth’s orbit prior or during the game, they probably wouldn’t want that being spoiled.

That’s a good point. I question is now, why do the other rings orbit a planet and a sun if they don’t need a planet to keep the ring in place?

I got you. Don’t halo rings also revolve like a car tire?

Woah, there’s speculation Cortana moved the ring to earth :flushed:? Is there a theory vid or anything on this? It sounds like a cool story idea.

Nah I just used that as an example really, aha, sorry if I got your hopes up.
But if something like that did happen, I doubt they would want to show it in the trailer, for spoilers and all that.

Theoretically she could right. We know that Halo Rings can be “piloted” and 343 even mentions (in H:CEA terminal) that he can tune the ring to kill specific targets (anything that isn’t indexed). So maybe Cortana wants a death star.

It’s definitely a possibility.
In fact, in a Halo 6 script I wrote way back in 2016, I had Cortana using a Halo to wipe out non-compliment star systems, and towards the end of the game she arrives at Earth with it.
Though I don’t recall if it was Zeta Halo or not, I think it was but I’d have to go check.

Edit: Just checked, it was Beta Halo I used. I01.
Though I did have Cortana destroy Infinity, so it’ll be interesting to see if something similar goes down.

In point of light Zeta Halo was around a planet, not a gas giant though as rings generally are not placed around planets that could potentially support life. That being said, Point of Light was prior to infinite so its possible the ring was moved or we all the shots shown just are at angles not facing the planet
