Actually I’ve been curious about this. At certain ranks that seem randomly set I’ve noticed that your progression is much slower and requires more XP. I never bothered to note which ones but I think that certain milestones may be the key here.

It does appear that certain ranks require less xp to reach, but to answer the op question. XP is not awarded by SR.
