It does however have the online multiplayer menu system set up already, which implies that they will patch multiplayer in at some point further down the track. When it will happen is anybody’s guess at this point.

There are no advertisements that indicated how fast matchmaking would be. Having said that, it is clearly not what 343 intended, and indeed slow. That is why they are currently working on a patch. Which, by the latest update, is due out sometime later this week.
I have 71 games played since launch. 90% of the time I get matchamaed in under 5 minutes. Once in a while I need to restart the search. Its really not that big of a deal.

More like if you have the ‘patience’ to restart the search every 5 minutes only to eventually get a 5v3 game on Zanzibar where most of the people quit anyways, only to then have to restart MCC because it froze after the game ended, then yeah it’s wonderful.

You should not do that. As indicated by 343, its recommend to restart the search after 5 minutes. I can say from personal experience, they are correct. If I pass the 5 minute mark, it seems to clock on forever. However, just simply restarting and waiting another 5 minutes almost always gets me into a game.

I am restarting the search every few minutes. I’ve been doing this over an hour and a half. It’s been almost 5 hours and I’ve only had 3 games.
They are using the PVP host as a contingency plan, but the main plan is when the servers are up the MM will be running in the dedicated servers

Make sure to let it clock the full 5 minutes. Honestly. I always make sure to mark the time when I search. Because siting and waiting for 5 minutes can feel like an eternity. You may be backing out too soon and restarting. The 5 minute widow is the sweet spot. I have been getting great success at getting matchmade into games.
As I’ve said before, it’-Yoink!- and miss for me.
Earlier I had five straight games with the same party on Team Slayer - CE twice, several Halo 2 games, and it finally fell apart when entering Cosntruct on Halo 3. Game never actually loaded, I eventually just hard resetted my X1.
Sometimes I wait for several minutes or longer, sometimes I get one quickly. Sometimes it lasts for a game or two, other times I can get up to five or so before something goes wrong.
A patch is expected later in the week, and hopefully that will improve things (Given they postponed it to put in more fixes, I’m assuming it will to some extent)
So in answer to your question, yes there is. Experiences will vary, but it’s there.

Actually, it’s the rational adults that should be asking for a refund as they spent their own hard earned cash on a product that does not work as advertised more than a week after launch and, seeing as the patch that will supposedly fix it could even go well past the two week mark before it works fully. Kids , more than likely, did not buy the game with their own money and therefore, do not care as much.
On top of all this, younger gamers don’t even know a time when games worked at launch, so to them, this is just a normal thing that happens with every game. As such, they are much more willing to bend over and take it for as long as necessary before the game actually works.
I however, as a reasonable and rational adult, do remember a time (not even that long ago either) when games worked at launch and when they didn’t, the developer was given hell over it rather than everybody going all “stockholm syndrome” and defending their shoddy workmanship. I also paid my own money for the game, and if it’s still not working after two weeks, I am going to seriously have to think about whether it’s worth holding on to it at all.

Nearly an hour later (making that almost 6 hours now with only 3 games played) and still nothing.
