yeahno I hate it, nobody I know likes the whole random thing. Nobody. It’s just… Absolute garbage.

Grav ham/energy Sword
Sniper/scewer
Shotgun/heatwave
Then i forget the last ones of needler/pulsecarbine/ravenger/plasma pistol

I dunno i kind of like it, forces people to do different weapons. On some maps one side gets br the other side get cammando (like streets) i honestly dont mind it at all, i personally dont like the rockets in any game mode tbh but oh well
It only bothers me when the weapon option is not an equivalent…which is exclusively for the mangler and plasma pistol
Charged up plasma postol doesnt even disable a vehicle in this game… i mean wth is that?
i believe they were in H5. you’d randomly get frags, stickies, or those promethian grenades that were sooo op on those h5 fiesta maps…
so like, if 343 can randomize the equipment… why not do the same again with the grenades? it’s a social mode based entirely on RNG… so why not?
The racks are split into mid-tier power weapons, pistols, precision, and non-traditional weapons. It isn’t 100% random. You’re always guaranteed one of these categories from their assigned racks.
mid-tier power weapons are shotguns (heatwave or bulldog) minor explosives (ravager, or hydra) and multi-shot snipers (stalker rifle and shock rifle).
Pistols are the mangler, plasma pistol, and disruptor.
Precision is Battle Rifle and Commando.
Non-traditional is the needler and sentinel beam.
Oddly the only one that isn’t randomized is the pulse carbine. The pulse carbine only spawns on the same rack. This implies that there will be a weapon to share that category at some point later.
The other categories always spawn on the same racks too, they just cycle per-match. For example, on Recharge there will always be a 3 pistols. One on the arch way, another in the enclosed yellow hall, and the last on the side with the windows. The BR/Commando always spawns on the highest points.
343 tried to balance the game toward weapon roles, and in theory I love this idea because I would be able to play how I want.
In practice, they didn’t balance the weapons quite right. I want to like the commando but to be honest most of the sandbox needs to be buffed rather than nerfed.
I don’t see the cycling weapon racks themselves as a problem gameplay wise (aesthetically I prefer weapons laying around too). Rather the problem, like most of the non-connectivity issues in this game, lie in balancing. The BR will win against the commando 80% of the time, yet the game implies they are equal. Same with the mangler vs the Plasma pistol and disruptor.
it has P’ed me off since day one and is in my top 3 complaints about the multiplayer
Having played tens of thousands of matches in FPS games, I prefer the weapons to change in the rack.
Over the course of time skill creep becomes very important as players learn and memorize strategic points on the map. If they were allowed to simply rush to the known location of a specific weapon, the match outcome becomes predetermined based on the spawn points as the match begins.
Bold of you to assume hit registration and desync don’t already - albeit unintentionally - make challenges harder to complete.
Usually the BRnand Commando mare swapped. I noticed this on fire firing range.
But it’s freaking annoying, sucks we won’t get forge until basically the end of the year damn near, it won’t be until than when we get good maps and gamemodes because the playerbase will simy step in and make them
I agree with all of what you said except for that regarding the commando and BR. The commando has a faster ttk than the BR….yes it has recoil but only if you hold the button down - Fire it like a pistol and it is just better.
Where the commando loses out is the clip size
Yeah man - I like that vehicles are a bit sturdier but I feel the Spartan laser is needed more than ever. It feels weird to me that the hydra does very little damage to a hog and odd that the ghost has so much health. I also feel the “electric” weapons that disable the vehicle don’t disable them for long enough and/or don’t do enough damage to them. Kinetic weapons are especially pointless on them.
I know, annoying af the plasma pistol dont do that anymore. I get other weapons can disbale vehicles now but the plasma pistol needs more to it, just being able to remove an overshield and normal shield in one charge isnt enough
Yeah it used to be decent enough even fired like a pistol on spartans but it doesn’t feel the same anymore. Can’t put my finger on why
I feel the homing is pretty weak too tbh, its quite easy to dodge and it feels like it loses its ability to home sometimes.
Definitely needs something else added to it, the stunning vehicles was kinda its most used aspect followed far behind with people using it to remove a shield to one punch/headshot after.
Plasma pistol and ravenger are defo the worst imo. I would say the pulse carbine too but i dunno if im just having desyc issues or something because the AI can make that thing lock on and destroy me hella fast
Pulse carbine is ok at a specific range but too close and too far it is utter -Yoink!-. I find it is best at “almost” middle range. Have a feeling the plasma pistol is the same. My theory is that when the cursor is red but “about not to be” strafes are less prominent (because at distance they appear smaller). So it homes more. Closer range they can put strafe. It’s weird but I think it may be the way they’ve coded it to home….PPistol is the same.

is it me or is this gun completely different in the campaign, it seems to not fire tracking bolts, but the bolts travel much faster, like 3x times faster than in MP, i think is has a shorter time between bursts too
I still feather the trigger too, but it still isn’t good against the BR, at least in my hands. It was a little better back during the flight, but they nerfed it just a tad and threw the gun off entirely for me.
I hate when I go to shotgun spawn and it’s the wrong shotgun. I don’t want the bouncy suicide shotgun I want the blow their heads off shotgun with the murder wheel for ammo
Tbh I love using it, even against a good BR user, but I feel the clip is too small. A few shots missed and that’s you done. The BR is way more forgiving
