Does this bother anyone else in multiplayer?

So one thing that has been driving myself and many of my friends nuts is in multiplayer in non-ranked games say for example, Team Slayer, sometimes the weapons in the rack are different. They’re not consistent! Why is it sometimes I go here and it’s a commando and other times in other matches it’s a BR. That’s freaking stupid and super annoying!!! Not to mention it changes the game plan of I don’t know where to go off the bat because I don’t know what weapons going to be in there.

Also why are all the weapons or at least the vast majority of them always in the wall panel? Why aren’t some just lying on the ground, Or leaning up against the wall like in past games??

Please make weapons static like they have been for the last 20 years. If you want random weapons, there’s a great mode for that and it’s called Fiesta or Custom games.

Does this stuff bug anyone else? Has 343 said why they’ve gone this route and I just missed it?

A big player theory that has been discussed since the first week is that the reason for the random weapons/gametypes is to make the challenges harder to complete to encourage buying challenge swaps and level skips. Apparently the idea was supposed to ensure not every match will be played the same, but thats a little hard to believe. No match is ever the same as the next because different players have different playstyles. This was something that was never an issue in any other halo title or Arena FPS in general.

I honestly believe the greed theory.

Yep, it doesn’t make sense. Especially with KBM, the Commando is worthless. Slayer is my go to with Halo but because of this, I mainly stick with SWAT and ranked.

Yep. Nothing more frustrating than sprinting to a BR rack to find out it’s a Commando spawn.

On top of that, the weapon rack system makes it so there are not enough weapon spawns on the map. If your teammate grabs the BR before you, you’re donezo.

I’m not buying their propaganda about this being more welcoming to new players either. Randomness is frustrating for any player.

They should update the loading screens to display items on map. If the only way to obitain this information is repeatly jumping into games and learning about it, ill wait till either a mod team does this for us or 343i does it.

Try tap firing the Commando. It’s a hell of a lot better if you tap fire instead of holding down the fire button.

True. Which makes it even more incredible that after all this time, with it being nearly universally hated, they haven’t said anything about it.

It’s not as random as you think. Just different game types have different weapon spawns on each map. Allows them to tweak a map for a specific scenario rather than change the entire map across the board.

The game has like 2 or 3 weapon placements designs for each map, and it does change amongst the same game type.

I don’t mind the random drops in btb, but the weapon pads should be consistent and symmetrical.

Of course it bothers me. Some people easily brush it off, but the weapon-specific challenges did have an impact psychologically. We all saw it when people were camping specific weapons for their challenges.

Same set-ups for both teams have always been a Halo staple and it should return.

Let’s look at Quick Play bazzar CTF as an example case. The game starts, and you haven’t seen what the weapons are yet.

You’re honestly saying your opening strat is going to completely change depending on whether or not each spot has a Rocket/Cindershot, OS/Camo, and BR/Commando?

Like, it really doesn’t change the opening strat at all, you’re going to get the same advantage crashing to three different spots regardless of what the item is…

If you want the maps power weapon off the rip, crash that spot, and it doesn’t matter if you get there and it’s a rocket or a cindershot

they copied gears of war rotating weapons. I dont llike it in that game either.

true, I personally dont like it because certain weapons/equipment are more fun/effective. just put them all on the map. edit - by all i mean both inv and overshield.

randomness in halo should only be in fiesta… but even 343 messed that up by not making the grenades random. for whatever reason.
also the random racks are even worse in BTB. one base will have commando’s, and the other just has the superior BR… making it unfair… lovely

BTB is the worst for this… one side can have 2 or 3 shock rifle spawns and 3 BR spawns while the other side doesn’t have even 1 BR or shock rifle spawn at all…
No exaggeration, this has happened to me…
Needless to say we got wrecked

I like having different weapon sets for the same map. It creates 2 versions of the same map. What I do not like, is how 343 has the Commando and BR are equal alternates, which is silly. The BR side of the map has a big advantage over the trashmando side. Either have BR’s on each side or Commandos, but these two weapons are not equal.

Random weapons on the same map is toilet. They definitely need to be set spawns and as equal as possible for both sides when teams. Now if they want different set ups for the weapons on the same maps that is ok but just have some sort of distinction so players know which set up it is before the match… Equal starts should be starting weapons AND available weapons on the map.
