A big part of what I hate with the BR being a 5-shot now (other than it being 1 more shot obviously) is that it takes 3 shots before a melee will kill instead of 2. I HATE THAT.
When I’m shooting with a long range weapon I rarely focus on beating someone down anyway.
OP Here.
Just wanted to say that I am not one of the people who complains about every little thing like most of the people here. Overall I actually really enjoy Halo 4. My only 2 real gripes are that the BR is not 4 shot and Personal Ordinance results in far too many power weapons in play.

We can see that you’re the OP.
And…ok?

There’s not much we can do about that. Like it or not, it’s become part of the game.
And you’re asking to break weapon balance. If you make it a 4 shot kill, it’s rate of fire will need to be decreased to compensate for that.
Also, please be careful: Don’t try to bump your thread with your comments so that it stays on the front page. There might already be a forum about your topic.

This would make the BR better than the DMR at medium range, but still worse at long range, meaning that there would be no need for further balancing. This is the perfect solution to the DMR being dominant at unintended ranges.

I agree!
I find the BR to be a great weapon to the way it is, it’s fairly balanced with every other weapon in the sandbox (with the exception of the DMR, of course). I believe that bringing it back up to a 4-shot kill would make it too powerful as well, unless you were to decrease the rate of fire to keep the kill time exactly the same.
I still believe that the best way to bring balance to the sandbox would be to nerf the DMR, bringing it down to the same level as the other weapons, not making the BR more powerful to bring it to the level of the DMR.

You’re only considering the BR and the DMR, though. That would mess with the rest of the sandbox. Everything is fairly well balanced with each other. Especially the BR. They just need to reel the DMR in a little bit.
My problem with Nerfing the DMR is that I want the other guns equal to it otherwise we’ll have slower kill times. Halo 2 BR was PERFECT kill times Halo 3 and Reach were too slow in comparison (although that had to do with a lot more than just kill times)
