Does the Plasma Pistol not EMP vehicles anymore?

So I’m not sure if this has been addressed anywhere yet (probably has but I can’t find the posts for it), but does the Plasma Pistol not EMP vehicles anymore? Or is it a bug and it’s supposed to. I tried to EMP a Ghost last night and it didn’t work. So I figured it might’ve been because it’s a Banished Ghost so it doesn’t work on that or w/e.
But then later that game I was driving the Warthog at someone and he hit me with a Plasma Pistol and I just kept driving.

No official word from 343. But If it’s my guess: New EMP methods have been introduced as a mechanic removing the Plasma Pistols ability to EMP vehicles.
From a design point of view, I think they’re trying to make Vehicles harder to stop without some concentrated effort (Electricity doesn’t instantly EMP Vehicles for example) to make up for the Hit-scan High damage meta.

But I personally feel if that’s the case, then add the PP to the EMP-build up mechanic (takes 2 shots instead of 1 to halt a vehicle etc) But that may make stopping vehicles too easy again anyway.

I got EMPed the other day on Behemoth and I think it was a plasma pistol. It could just be bugged.

I’ve gotten EMP’d by those new Shock Grenades before, but I definitely drove straight through a shot of the Plasma Pistol as if it was nothing.

Maybe it was the shock grenade then. I actually like that change tbh.

I mean that could be the case, but at the same time they added grenades with an AOE EMP ability, which I’m finding easier to hit vehicles with. Granted I didn’t really try that many times anymore once I realized the Plasma Pistol didn’t work anymore. But it was extremely easy using those.

Yeah, it was easy using those. But they are also grenades. So you only get 2. They are also thrown, so any lack of pre-planning on your part will not be as effective as pulling out a Plasma Pistol and lining up a tracking shot. Any vehicle moving sufficiently fast enough will be more difficult to stop. I don’t mind the change, but over on Reddit some people are going ballistic.

Yeah I mean I’m not stoked about it, there were a lot of times in BTB when there were no power weapons or vehicles available to me. But if I found a plasma pistol nearby I could do something.

But all this does is make me run towards the grenade spawn instead. Assuming both teams have a dedicated spawn in the base as an anti vehicle measure I’m generally fine with it. This was mainly a post to ask if it was a feature or a bug.

Hopefully they bring back the plasma pistol ability to emp vehicles it will be a missed feature if not. Im liking the new electricity mechanics in the game but i would like to see some tweaking though. Being in a vehicle and being emp’d by shock weapons is a little too long for my liking. Its very easy to throw out a dynamo grenade and emp a vehicle and a feels like 5 seconds of the vehicle being disabled. Think having the timed affect being shorten to be a trade off to how easily it is to emp a vehicle with the dynamo grenade. Other way is to keep the time it is now for a vehicle to be emp’d but it would have to change the mechanic of the dynamo grenade to only emp a vehicle by sticking or magnatising the dynamo grenade to the vehicle. This would be a balanced trade off to have the longer time being emp’d because you would have to stick the warthog and not just have the dynamo land close to it.

The shock rifle needs a little tweaking too. Being a precision weapon it would be way too easy to emp a vehicle. Currently now it takes 2 shots to emp vehicles. I would want an ALT firing mode to be a balance trade off.
The shock rifle
1st alt mode would be its normal 4 shots in a clip but this will only be the basic attack with its added bonus of the electric current connecting to other players or weapons and dealing damage.
2nd alt mode will be a charge shot that will take up 2 shots in a clip and this would be the emp affect on vehicles. This i feel would be a better trade off and balance the weapon that is a “precision weapon” that can emp vehicles.
