So a bit of backstory my friend is creating a halo RPG with the GURPS game system set during the insurection wars right before the fall of Harvest. Im having trouble finding any lore on the nations that make up the UNSC. So I am curious if any one knows of any source material I can read. I’m interested in playing an Irish Marine who belongs to the IRA and has insurrectionist sympathies but was drafted to fight the covenant. But I cant find any material that talks about any organizations that may have continued existing from current day to the Halo time line. Any help would be much appreciated.
Within the context of the Halo universe, the IRA existed over 500 years earlier. It’s highly doubtful they would still exist. That’s almost like saying someone today is a member of the Knight’s Templar (which operated up until the beginning of the 1300s).

It’s certainly possible. Affiliations like Freemasonry have been around for over 300 years and show no signs of stopping.
Is it probable? No. But not necessarily impossible.
Nationalism as a concept doesn’t seem to exist in the UEG; I doubt that Ireland really exists as a concept except in geographical terms, same with every other country.
You could probably change the character’s backstory to being affiliated with some Insurrection group without changing too much, though.
Thank you guys!
