I dont understand why they dont remove sprint and maybe just add 5-10% movement speed overall?
343 have finally listen to the community, to go back to their old halo 3 roots, but the sprint feels off and not necessarily.

Yes.
Yes, some of the community lieks sprint, which is why its included in infinite but not to the point that ikts overbearing and intrusive
as an OG halo player I like this balance
I can live with this sprint and if it has to stay in the game, this sia good balance
I personally don’t care about sprint, but I do care about how it is implemented. I wouldn’t want sprint to be a permanent ability like it has been since 4. I’d rather have it be a pickup like it originally was, just so there could be more options in terms of custom game modes and more varied map design. If Infinite could refactor sprint and slide to be a pickup, I’d be ecstatic for the Custom Games and Action Sack communities. It’s a natural evolution of Armor Abilities to introduce multi-functionality to add both depth and complexity to the sandbox.

The way they implemented feels like it fits Halo.
Sprint has been in almost as many halo games as not now, so yeh, a sizeable portion of the fanbase also likes sprint and its prolly here to stay. It’s not perfect in the preview but we’re getting close to a fair compromise. Here’s hoping 343i manages to please both sides this time.
I don’t mind it in theory but with Reach you saw how the map design changed for the worse around it, and therefore I say no.
Sprint = 4 speed
Walk = 3.5 speed
I think this entire flow is genius. They nailed it.
To optain the sandbox 343 want they do need to work on the movement and the weapon mechanics.
The game without sprint would make the game be more free and “sandboxy”.
Halo is all about moving details, unpredictable things that can happen in the game.
Yes
After playing the technical preview I can say for myself they’ve made the best compromise with sprint, it’s not too evasive & works really well in tandem with slide.
You can shoot almost instantly out of sprint, sprint doesn’t make you run that much faster, and the slide mechanic helps the game feel smooth. I was against sprint, because of how it was implemented in the past. But it has become a non-issue IMO
I’m fine with this version of sprint. I know this may be hard for you to believe but some people like sprint in halo. It really doesn’t add to much aside from strafe jumping and sliding longer

It didn’t just change for sprint. It also changed for jetpacks, evade etc etc. That’s a fallacy that most anti sprint people hold on to. All the armour abilities were a problem that changed map design.

Did the people who wants sprint know how to crouch boost in halo 3 tho?

Who cares lmao. Halo 3 isn’t the be all end all of the series. Also lmao at you equating sprint to crouch jumping that’s hilarious

Na i just want the best for the community and make halo infinite hold longer then halo 4 and halo 5.
They aimed for a middle ground and this is it. It’s literally now if you don’t want to sprint then you don’t have to. There’s a side by side on how fast sprint is compared from walking online, so it isn’t so much as an essential thing. I’m not too fussed about it cos sprints been around for awhile and I’m used to it by now. It’s like ADS where it’s there just to say it is. Someone put it very well and said that it’s more just a pathway for accessing slide more than a way to get around a map quicker.

The only reason why 3 lasted aslong as it did was because there were no real good FPS games out lmao. The series started dying at reach because of Bungie’s choices aswell as there just being way better games.
If you look at h3s population charts it started dying right as mw 2 came out. And than reach and that joke of a game held people for like 6 months and even faster with 4 people moved on super fast. There are just more quality games out to compete against.

Sorry if I’m jumping in here but sprint won’t damage the game. Not like how they are making in infinite. What people didn’t like about Halo 4 and 5 was that they didn’t feel like Halo Games (halo 4 tried to be CoD while Halo 5 enhanced movement). I’m saying this to you knowing most likely you already know this. And alot of people who didn’t like Halo 4 and 5 are saying that this is a return to form in alot of aspects. Bringing old aspects of Halo to light while modernizing them for a fresh feel for the old player a like you and I.

Thats not the only reason lol… halo 3 was a good game and its more unique then most of the games. Every mechanic nowadays are the same, halo 3 was diffrent from anything else.
