Im a little concerned about what Frankie said about there being a reason why RED spartans fight BLUE spartans. Do you think this means there will be no FFA? Why does MP even need a story, will this story carry over to playlists such as Action sack, living dead etc? Wouldnt those be, erm, breaking cannon? Would only one playlist be rapped in story? What do you guys think?
gives thread mouth to mouth DONT DIE ON ME!
it just gives people a good incentive to play matchmaking and feel as if there is a reason to do so, And no that is highly unlikely that they will remove FFA. for the franchise… that is plain stupid. especially in a game that is supposed to be highly customizable
I’d imagine there will be FFA. Don’t worry.
You can probably guarantee FFA.
> I’d imagine there will be FFA. Don’t worry.
Yea, ,but will FFA and other playlists work with the story? Will they break this new multiplayer cannon?
im liking how ^people^ are trying not to guarantee something because we know we cant say anything about this game, unless its in fact and text these days XD
The whole story thing seems a little pointless to me, but my guess is that it’ll be quite simple, sorta like how CoD has rival factions pitted against each other in their MP, just with a little more explanation.
i can understand if it was only invasion becuase that actually would make sense with a connection to the campaign.
343 has only mentioned that there will finally be some fictional “context” as to why red and blue Spartans are fighting each other. Fictional context isn’t entirely new to the multiplayer experience. I’m sure everyone has seen the brief descriptions under each map when selecting them in customs; those blurbs provide context that help indicate where the maps exist in the wider fiction. I would wager that any new multiplayer fiction would be similar in terms of simplicity and ease of access. If they were to force a deep or complex narrative into multiplayer it would only prove to be a barrier for people who aren’t as well-versed in the fiction or those who just want to play a few simple games with friends, and I can’t see 343 going down that path.
Either way, I certainly don’t think 343 is going to go so far as to eliminate longstanding playlists or gametypes simply because they don’t fit in with this new fiction.
I think that before anyone can play online MP the game makes you watch the first couple seasons of Red vs Blue. Then it just says “That’s why you’re fighting.”

I don’t think the the “Story” is going to be that in depth, where it effects every gametype…
Hmm every other Halo game before it has FFA along side Red VS Blue so I’d say yes.
/Derp
Oh you meant story, probably not. Really no need anyhow.
I think the idea of story in Multi-player is stupid. Just drop us into a match and let us go at it!

LOL
Honestly, I think that “that” particular story will stick exclusively to gametypes that are RvB; anything else will be as normal.
Don’t think that they’re going to elaborate too much on it though, albeit I could be totally wrong and they could pull a total Chromehounds on us and have us pick a side from the start. Like, each map would have a scoreboard, and on that board would be the wins of the Reds and Blues; Whoever has the highest score wins and by the end of a season, whoever holds the most maps wins that season.
Argh, I don’t know! So much speculation! Feel like I’m back in the Reach forums wayyyy before its release thinking about the Chief making a cameo >.>
This question makes me rage.
Please, stop taking the developers so freaking seriously.
Holy crap. 0_0
you really think they’re going to remove every playlist except team slayer? who cares about action sack and living dead halo 4 is better off without these joke playlists
