I have to play halo 2’s campaign before Halo 4. I have researched the story but something tells me that I have to experience it for myself. So I ask do original Xbox games work on 360?

Yes, take your time and enjoy it, maybe play Heroic or Legendary to get the full impact.

I’d recommend playing it on Heroic if you’re doing it solo and for the first time. A first play through of Halo 2 on Legendary can be a frustrating experience and can cause you to become distracted from the story.
Heroic gives you the challenge that should be there but allows you to experience Halo how it was meant to be played. Bungie always said that the best way to experience Halo was on Heroic solo for a first play through - and over the years, I’ve come to see that it’s true!
Cheers

yes, most do.
I take it that halo 2 xbox classic disk works on xbox 360 slim if so what works on it

Yes, it does work. And if by “what works on it” you mean what features - all of them do other than the ability to play online games on Xbox Live, since Microsoft shut down Xbox Live for any original Xbox title.
Cheers
PS: And don’t ask me why it still prompts for and can download the latest Halo 2 Title Update if the original Xbox Live servers were ‘shut down’ - because it doesn’t make sense to me either.
It will look a little dark, which is due to compatibility issues with original Xbox games on the 360. But yes, it will work!

Yes. Just make sure you have an Xbox 360 hard drive. You can’t play it with system memory alone. For just getting through the game or knowing what happens play on Easy. For a regular experience try Normal. If you want to play Halo as it was meant to be played, I suggest Heroic. For a big challenge, do Legendary. For the ultimate thrill and bragging rights then do Mythic (Legendary, all sculls on, minimum deaths).
If you ever wanted to try multiplayer, it still works for split screen up to four players. It may not be xbox live, but its better than nothing.
It works on a 360, but you may get a ‘ghost image’ glitch during campaign. Although it’s really minor, but if it does happen, simply exit the campaign and resume your save game.

For me I have to restart my entire disk to fix it, quitting and resuming just won’t do it for some reason.
