does not having a public beta help or hurt?

Already said it but do you think not having a public beta will be bad or is it not going to matter in the long run would love to hear what you guys/girls think.

It Helps. If we have a beta people will find the littlest things to complain about, which helps 343 in no way. Having no beta is alot better.

Probably good. Back in the day it was pretty unheardof to have public betas. -Yoink!- is probably big enough to stress servers and because they don’t have to deal with public beta they can probably get the game out faster. Also, I seem to think MOST of the general publics comments about the game are meaningless.

All they need is MLG to test their game.

i agree 100 percent but as we all know the people who buy the game, seems to be the ones who do find the bugs and not the people who make the game so it kinda works both ways.

> All they need is MLG to test their game.

Wow really?! maybe MLG can taste this Mercury i have too! but seriously getting MLG to test the game is not the answer.

It helps. With a public beta you only find the massive issues that people go on the forums to complain about, also what you think is a “huge issue” may not be, but 343 would never know because the people who are fine with it never come on the forums.

With private testing 343 can actually ask questions to the testers, so this issue is not there.

LOL!!!

Hurts. A lot of players felt burned by Reach (campaign and MM) and will be hesitant to buy H4 day one without a beta. I’m one of them.

> All they need is MLG to test their game.

No, they do not need MLG to help test their game. If they let a few MLG players test, then that’s fine, but they don’t NEED to HAVE MLG test their game. If MLG players are as good as everyone makes them out to be, then they can adjust to Halo 4 with out telling 343i how to do things.

That’s why you go by metrics not idiots. Of course 343i isn’t smart enough to do so.

Cyanide has better effects.

Topic:
-Not really. I would rather have qualified people(People that made the game, or game testers)to test the game. Than a bunch of 12 year olds that complain about everything.

You could still have a public beta. But I would hardly listen to the public. The only things I would listen to are things that are game breaking. If they are complaining about things that got added to the game like sprint. Unless they have a very good well thought reason why they are complaining about it. I would ignore them. If it is a well thought out reason. I would tweak it a bit to make it work better. But I would not remove it.

It definitely helps. Yeah plenty of people will complain about weapon balance and such, which doesn’t help, but it is the people who play continuously online that find the bugs. Halo 2 didn’t have a beta and it was seriously flawed with all the super jumping, getting outside the maps, modding and other cheating, and etc. Halo 3 had a beta, and it had far less cheating and getting outside the map, and there is even less in Reach. The beta should be released more to test the maps than to test weapon balance and such.

In my opinion it will be bad.

When you have a Beta, players can find glitches etc. which will help the game when it’s released.

Look at games like CoD without Beta, their games are full of glitches, bugs etc.

It helps. Definitely.

With an open beta, if 343i has taken a terrible approach with the game (As it is pretty much expected at this point) it’ll be a strong warning not to buy the game. Similar to what happened with Reach.

Without it… I’m gonna buy the game first day just to see how it goes, and if I don’t like it I’ll sell it to Gamestop for 37 bucks and tell myself it only costed me 23 dollars.

Hate on what? the fact that someone is better then me at a video game? oh yea I’m hating big time.

I resent that -_-

Helps. Would you rather them spend 3 months polishing a beta, or 3 extra months polishing the release?

Besides, they still have partnernet.
