Believe or not, review scores actually affect sales a lot. Sure, forks here know that review scores means -Yoink-. So there has been quite conspiracy when certain big hit games get high scores. Sure, reviewers get their copies and paid to review the games.
Do you think MS bribe reviewers to give Halo 4 high scores since Halo is their biggest source of income in xbox?
Yes, Microsoft will marry any reviewer that gives their game a positive score.
OT: I don’t think that MS even HAS to bribe the major reviewing sites. Chances are, if reviewers like IGN give Halo 4 a less than perfect score, they’ll probably receive an insane amount of backlash from the fanbase.
Bride?

polygamy is illegal. Even for MS.
Bribing people to give Halo good reviews is like bribing a fat kid to enjoy cake.
I don’t know about Microsoft, but Activision definitely does.
They certainly wouldn’t be the first company to do that. Welcome to modern age of gaming.

So very true.

You may now kiss the bride : )
Gaming News and Reviewing sites are all a business, especially the likes of IGN.
They do give positive scores for the sake of lickin’ the big companies, so that they get to make more advertisements, interviews and overall not get blacklisted or on the bad side with certain publishers and key games.

CoD spends 92% of there revenue bribing review sites, the other 8% goes to having male -Yoink!- mondays for all employees for the year.
They pay for a free -Yoink!- change and an arranged marriage, for the gaming nation getting married is a very good deal they might never get again.
I joke.
Bride reviwers?
What are “reviwers” and why would they be married by MS?
Seriously though, MS doesn’t even have to do that.
1: Reviewers will probably be blinded by love for the series anyways at first, resulting in big scores…as always is the case with the biggest of games (look at GTA IV for instance, which got 10/10’s everywhere…but really didn’t deserve it. Or Reach. Or any of the big Zelda games never scoring anywhere close to 90- scores. Or MGS games even though some don’t deserve the near perfect scores).
2: A low score will result in HUGE negative feedback from their communities.
3: A low score will probably mean negative results in terms of their relationships with MS/343i. Take IGN for instance, who have a lot of scoops and exclusive information on Halo titles because they’re on good means with MS. A low score can make that relation go sour. So in a way, that is a form of indirect “bribing”.
4: General feedback from people who’ve played is overwhelmingly positive. Which implies the reviews are going to go the same route.
Oh you mean bribe not bride haha… With everything in this world there is some sort of bribing going on behind the scenes.
Not sure about -Yoink!- but Activision tends throws a lot of money to…influence game scores. Gotta get dat high Metacritic score.
I think a better question is ‘who doesn’t IGN take bribe money from?’.

IGN loves Halo/Microsoft anyway.
And if they make a low score, all the fans start hating on their website. So you can’t be honest nowadays.
