dedicated servers yes or no?
Yes, MCC makes use of dedicated servers but also has fallbacks to P2P if issues arise with connections
Nope, 343 lied about it. Frank O’Connor said he would let us know when they’re up and he hasn’t said a word about it in almost two years.
When host quits a Halo 3 game the entire game crashes out and ends. That wouldn’t happen on dedicated servers.
Maybe there are MCC servers sitting around, and maybe the MCC tries to connect players to that server first before setting the game up as P2P, but given 343i’s track record with servers, even on Halo 5, and the amount of junk code and bugs that are sitting in the MCC I wouldn’t put money on the majority of MCC games being played on dedicated servers.
I had put this game on hold due to all of the connection issues. I do, in occasion, tend to try and play with my friends, and I’m still frustrated that the issues joining campaign haven’t been fixed. Any way to get in touch with 343 about how terrible this still is?! Halo 5 was ok the first time through, but I’m so sick of all these bugs, I just want Bungie back! I just wanna play more master chief campaigns!

Huh, pretty much like how Bonnie Ross promised us they (343 Industries) would continue working on the MCC 24/7 until they got it to 100% fixed. That still hasn’t happened either… Aren’t Frank O’Connor and Bonnie Ross like high up in the ranks of 343 Industries or something?
