my Average KD is .916 but I have to wonder, in the competitive scale does KD matter? Like if you don’t have a 1.6 KD you can’t go to HCS? Like, I’m pretty okay all FFA and Doubles, but I suck at breakout and it seriously brings my KD down. So what should I do?

Yes, KD matters. My KD is worse than yours but I know that it matters. I made the mistake of starting my multiplayer for this game in Swat and dropped over 60 deaths in the first 10 games alone. I suck at Swat in Halo 5. There is no k/d requirement for HCS but you do have to be in the Champion Rank to get an invite. Best way to get there is to have a positive K/D and a regular team to play with. I have a friend that was very competitive in previous halo games and even his K/D is suffering in this new game. I think the matchmaking system for Team slayer and Team arena is much better at matching you against appropriate player skills and keeping you around the 1.0 KD mark. FFA and Swat ranking systems are completely borked.

Well i stopped playing arena for now because i hate my kd getting destroyed in BTB and Swat, everytime.

How the -Yoink- can you accept that? I would rather stick a knife in my arm then to stop caring about my k/d everytime i see that number pop up negatively it enrages me like hell.
Yes, it does matter. Even in objective game-types, you can’t score if you are dead and the other team can’t score if you kill them. It matters in every game-type but it matters more in Team Slayer, FFA, SWAT and Breakout.

If negative K/D enrages you, then you might want to take a step back and re-evaluate your priorities, it’s just a game.
I got like 70 deaths more then kills over all arena modes, i disgust it i dont allow myself to slack backwards and play for fun, i have a reputation to build both IRL and online.
Either you play for real and be a god, or lay back, be a waste of oxygen noob and go negative.
I will pay 343i to reset my stats or make a new GT if i have to.

K/D kind of matters, as it objectively helps your team to win. I’m actually kind of unsure what kind of K/D is for each ranked spot. I feel like your K/D should be at least an even 1 for being in Platinum. At the end of the day, all that really matters is winning the game in the end and having fun with the game. I feel like 9.16 for a K/D is decent enough to be in Gold, but raising it up and winning would definitely show that you deserve a higher rank.
It does matter it tells you if your are good for other people or if you suck.

I agree with this Mr. D. If your K/D is astronomically high, you’re probably playing in a lower tier. If matchmaking is a true system of parity, in theory players would finish games close to the 1.0 K/D and would lose and win an equal amount.
If you’re in a gold tier and are winning 18/20 with a 5 k/d, then I’d say Halo needs to bump you up.

Okay, thank you for all of this info! I started with a .680 KD, but have worked really hard to get to .916, I just hope that Halo sees that I am trying.
