I would argue that it doesn’t. With the amount of players that play KotH without ever stepping foot in the hill, oddball without ever holding the ball, Dominion without making any effort to capture a base and simply relying on a shotgun, a rocket spawn, and wall, and their left trigger to keep it, k/d really doesn’t measure skill the way it was meant to.
I wish people still played this game. I really do. As much as people -Yoink- about the horrible changes that 343i has made to it, it’s not all their fault. It’s the Halo community’s fault. Nobody wants to play the game. Everybody wants to “win” and have the best k/d ratio, but nobody wants to enjoy the game the way it was meant to be played.
This game isn’t fun anymore. That’s just my $.02 though. If you still enjoy it, good for you.
Only in slayer. I wish they’d separate k/d ratios by playlist.
Even objective vs. slayer would be nice. That would make it less appealing for people to play objective gametypes to stat pad.

I agree, but if you’re interested in seeing your K/D per playlist, and your True Skill per playlist, this site allows it.
Even in slayer it doesn’t matter much when players get lucky ordinance drops and you get crap. I’d hardly say k/d in this game means much. Sure you can rack up the kills in slayer modes but they all have a lot of randomness in them which isn’t cool.

They do separate k/d by playlist… go to matchmaking and then game varients!
Unless you meant in game, which sounds like wayyy too many stats when you’re in between games

Thanks, I didn’t know anything about this site.

I’d agree with you to a certain extent. I believe that randomness is fair. It only throws the stats off by a little bit. Not to the extent that playing slayer in objective games does.
But to answer your question, yes. All the more since they practically -Yoink- on your W/L ratio by adding in join-in-progress making it absolutely pointless.

I would argue that an overall k/d for all playlists doesn’t matter at all. If they divided it by playlists, yes.
Inb4 “SAYS THE GUY WITH THE <Insert OP’s K/D Ratio Here> RATIO LOLOLOL”
My issue with K/d Ratio is that people assume you suck if you choose not to tryhard or you choose to focus on going out of your way for commendations instead of playing properly, as both of these will lower your k/d ratio.
In my opinion k/d ratio is only important in non-objective game modes. A great k/d means nothing if your team got crushed in CTF or the other objective games. Best not to focus on it anyways - game is so much more relaxing when you stop worrying about your ratio.
lol, no offence but your K/D is under 1.0. Of course you’re going to say that.
K/D gives you a very broad indication of whether or not a player is good or bad. There are many other things that need to be taken into consideration as well.
> I wish people still played this game. I really do. As much as people -Yoink!- about the horrible changes that 343i has made to it, it’s not all their fault. It’s the Halo community’s fault. We need a social playlist that does not factor into average k/d.
This way people can have fun without worrying about farming their k/d ratio.
(I would much more prefer k/d just be removed from modern games completely for a wide variety of reasons, but that’s a lot to ask…)
I always try to play to the best of my abilities given the current game type… but as far as it mattering? Meh, it looks good, but not what matters. It’s all about that Win/Loss.
> Again, only in Slayer. Why? If you’ve got a bad K/D in Slayer, you’re not helping your team, which means you’re probably not going to win.
>
> Of course, none of this matters if you’e just playing for “fun.”
I could try my absolute hardest, get my k/d up to 2.0, and absolutely crush anyone else who isn’t trying their best to compete.
But what is the point? Camping with the DMR and destroying newbs isn’t really that fun. I’d rather just go on splatter sprees or see how many people I can down with the plasma pistol, even if it means it is more risky and I will die more often, because it is more entertaining.
Also, all these people with High K/d’s who brag constantly, if you are truely competitive you should go play with MLG players. Trying your hardest in Public Matches doesn’t mean anything because no one else is. There’s a difference between a “competitive player” and a “pub stomper”.
Getting a 3.0 against people who are playing for fun is meaningless. I don’t see how people can possibly see that as a determiner of skill.
The only reason, and I mean the ONLY reason I am trying to raise my K/D is so people on the forums can’t rely on silly ad hominem arguments. K/D is still meaningless though unless you are playing against people who are actually trying to beat you.

I agree with this guy. My K/D is a 2.22 and I have the skill to keep it there. Whenever I go into a game of slayer, I can hold my own against anyone. I often find myself out DMRing other players because I have practiced with it quite a bit. I also play with other players and not randoms, so I don’t die as often. People who don’t care about K/D either have a terrible K/D and realize they will never have a good one, or they are stuck with randoms all the time and never bother to get together with a team.
